I had a similar tree with wheels, and I also couldn't sell it for $25. I ended up putting it out on the road with a "free" sign and it was gone the next morning. I have no regrets.

I'm convinced that it's not necessary to know anything if you are reselling. And often it works in their favor not to know anything. How else can you sell a $50 POS chrome bar for $100 with a straight face... well maybe it's just lack of morals. But they only need to know when something is interesting enough to put on eBay... or just put everything on eBay and then move whatever doesn't sell to CL.
