I love ads that tell you how overpriced the item was when new. Then the seller wants to make up for likely way overpaying by selling a mediocre home bench at the price that will get you a used commercial bench.
Im sick of seeing these Hoist 4165 benches all over FB and CL. They are NOT commercial. they are not even that good as home pieces. REP makes a better bench for $230 shipped.

I was looking at a Cybex Strength Systems leg curl the other day and messaged the seller to inquire about the price. "These cost $2,800 new, so you're getting a deal at $500." Cybex Strength Systems is a name Cybex used from 1988-94. Your leg curl may (may!) have been $2,800 new, but that was 25+ years ago.
Along similar lines are those who price their items in accordance with the used gym equipment stores. First, those places are ridiculously overpriced on everything. Second, their units are refurbished. If it needs a new cable, they put one on. If the paint is chipped, they touch it up. The unit covered in drywall, dust, and rust that has been sitting in your basement for the last 5 years with a cable more brittle than grandma's hips does not have the same value as a fully refurbished unit.

Body-Solid leg press / hack squat for $750. These go for $500 or less all day long in my area. Even the ones right at $500 usually sit for several weeks. This guy should know better too since he is one of the regional full-time flippers.

Now here's a true dreamer. She initially has this listed at $30K and quickly knocked it down to $20K. What does all that coin get you? Fine pieces such as a Weslo treadmill, just like the one you saw at Sears 20 years ago. There's a Yukon calf raise in there also. And gads of shredded and rusted pieces from a variety of manufacturers.

You need to know your market though. If everyone else in a given market is selling them for $400-500 and you're asking $750, you're potentially going to be waiting a long time for that unicorn.
Some guy up in a very affluent community in CT sold his Inspire FT for $2,500 last week. Meanwhile, a guy in my local market can't sell a Cybex Bravo for that. Eventually, you can probably find a buyer for just about any item at even the most ridiculous asking price, but I still categorize those people waiting for the magical unicorn as dreamers.

Shockingly, this $20K package is still available. She actually has some good pieces in there, but most need serious restoration and some is just trash (like the Weslo). No one is ever going to give her $20K.

Cheap Weider plates with an awful paint job for $1.54/lb (going rate in this area for crappy plates is $0.50-.80/lb).
