How long does protein powder last?

I'm looking into getting some optimum 100% whey protein, because im not currently getting enough. I was just wondering how long a 2lb or 5lb tub would last? it says its around 32 servings for 2lb and 80 for the 5lb, but without knowing how much i need to take per day and how much a serving contains im finding it hard to weigh it up.

How fast do you guys go through the stuff?

2 scoops is about 45-50grams of protein right? would it be normal to have 2 or 3 shakes like these per day/night?

You can easily get enough protein in your diet with 1 shake a day. Thats roughly 50g/shake. You should shoot for 1g-1.5g/ lb of bodyweight, so all youd need is a chicken breast or two and some tuna and youd have 150g in 2 meals and a post workout shake.

what about at night, i've read that while your sleeping your body doesnt have enough protein and you should wake up for a shake or something to top up your protein and make better gains, is this true?

no whey would be better in the morning. casein is before bed. but as long as your getting your bodyweight in protein a day you can easily go without casein.

dont listen to them, yes.. casein is good but later you can experiment with it.... you wont notice a difference, imo stick w/whey for all your protein needs, after you get more experience, go for it if you wanna try it

Starting on protein shakes post workout and maybe at other times should give me a much better result though right? I dont want to fork out ?45 a month if its not going to be making much difference. But im pretty sure im not getting anywhere near 160-240grams or protein a day currently. Did you all see much better gains after you started on shakes and protein?
