Get a "bulk up" powder. It's basically a protein powder with more carbs in it to boost your calorie content. Ideally you should just eat more but that sound like a problem.
Take this shake after a run, the protein will help the muscle, the calories will make up for what's been burned.

You need to find out where you are in terms of intake v. expenditure.
Do you have any idea how many calories you burn per day/week? How about your diet, how much do you eat each day (calories)?
If you want to gain, the obvious answers are a) do less, b) eat more or c) a combination of a and b.

Haha the thought of OP getting sexually assaulted in the misc is comical.
Bunch of clowns in that forum.
But OP, I suggest you eat a HUGE meal before your marathon training runs. Those are pretty long runs, so I think it is wise for you to fill up on slow-digesting carbs so that the entire run your body has the resources to fuel your energy consumption and doesn't start dipping into your muscle stores. Also, take those quick digesting carbacious jellies or something to eat during your run.
That is, if you don't want to look like a running twigger. If you're into that look, then don't worry about the food and then just proud that you can run mindlessly for hours with absolutely no destination. *applause*

Consume healthy fats like flax. Hilary Swank consumed flax oil to gain weight and build muscle mass.

Bottom line is that there is always a threshold for gaining or losing weight depending on your goals regardless of caloric expenditure. Maybe for you, it's 5,000 calories per day, maybe for some it's 10,000 calories per day. Seems high but I'm just trying to make the point that that there is always a threshold. I play hockey many times a week but I still manage to gain weight when that is my goal simply by eating to this threshold. I find that consuming things like oats with whey and peanut butter or some type of weight gainer will make this process more convenient for you.
The same rules still do apply though in that you want only a small caloric surplus and that you want to weight train intensely 3-5 times per week. This ensures that the majority of the surplus is used to build lean body mass.
Hope that helps.

1 tsp flaxseed oil every meal will help you to gain weight. I know it's really hard to eat 5 or 6 meal a day but if you commit to do it for a week then it'll be easier to follow the following weeks. BTW, weekends are my enemy :-)

Couple day old thread, but since it it resurrected...
To put on solid mass you need to intake more calories than you output. Just as long as you are getting enough nutrition, that is the holy grail. At first it is tough, but when you get in the habit of eating larger meals and/or more often it gets easier. Should add, pre and post workout meals or shakes really seem to help. You can also try adding a shake with every meal, that seemed to help me expand my stomach at first.
In the gym lifting and increasing your weight resistance as often as your body allows will build larger muscle.

Over 100 calories in a tablespoon of flaxseed oil, 14 grams (tablespoon) with every meal seems a bit overkill. Though my understanding is adding essential fatty acids is solid advice for many other reasons.

OP, take a look at Holyspokes' log. He's a cyclist & avid weight lifter. You can probably learn a few things from his diet since he's also an endurance athlete.
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=114168151
I remember when I was logging 60-70 miles a week, I would eat ice cream & peanut butter before bed to help maintain weight.
You should eat a lot of wholesome food, but feel free to splurge on some junk food if you're missing calories & feel too full to eat. Drinking a glass of milk with every meal is also another easy way to sneak calories into your diet.

Been there and done that.
I was 140 pounds when I left college and joined the Corp. I left the Corp at 170 pounds. It took a whole lot of lifting and a little less running to bulk up. Once I became a civilian again I started racing again and dropped to 160, which is pretty much where I stayed until I had to stop running a few years ago.
I have ran 16 marathons, numerous halfs and tons of 10k's and 5k's. While training I would eat 5500 calories a day, very high in carbs and not gain weight. So if you are pounding out serious mileage, gaining weight is going to be huge uphill battle.
But it's still the same old game, calories in versus calories out. If you can eat more than you expend, you can gain weight.

My mistake.
Over 40 calories in a teaspoon of flaxseed oil, 5 grams (teaspoon) with every meal seems a bit overkill. Though my understanding is adding essential fatty acids is solid advice for many other reasons.
