I am wondering if it would be alright if I went ahead and put my dream tan on before I go to my show. I know prejudging is at 10am so I figured I would just put it on at around 8 (allowing about 30-45 minutes application and an hour or so to set in) and head to the show. I plan on not putting my trunks on until I get to the show and am getting ready to pump. Is it gonna run, smear, or anything like that while my clothes are on over it. I have never used it before thats why I'm asking. I figure if it runs or smears, I can touch up before getting on stage and not have to worry about doing the entire application right before. Any advice on dream tan would be appreciated.
Yes Dream Tan will get on EVERYTHING. I still put it on before I go though, I just wear clothes that I don't care about. Then when you get backstage you can touch up the spots that smeared. But yeah, it's really messy.

Yeah, I figured that people would say that it smeared, but like you said I will be wearing clothes that I don't care about. Even the pro tan got all over my clothes last time. Anyone else care to comment?
^ Same here. I already had 3 coats of protan/shower, protan/shower, etc. Put the DT on before I left for the show and just touched up later. Should have put two coats on before though! Make it darker than you think you have to be

Sounds good. I would much rather get it done at home then have to worry about rushing before going on stage. I plan on using quite a bit of pro tan, but how many coats can you get out of one 2oz tub of the dream tan?
Ive got Dream Tan for my show this Saturday, but Im thinking about not even using it since it's so messy.
Its honestly not THAT messy. It does come off easily, but its an amazing color if done correctly. I never got it on anything in the hotel or at the show. It does drench off once water hits in the shower, but it doesnt stick to the floor of it or anything + I used baby oil to help get it off. It does take a lot of time to put on, but you cna even put some dream tan on the night before and sleep on your own sheet would be fine.
Yeah I'm not too worried about ruing clothes or sheets (have extras). I really just wanna know how far a 2oz tub is gonna go. I'm on a budget and I know we can all relate. I'm gonna spend almost $200 just to register and pay my entry fee. I already have enough pro tan, but I only wanna get what I need as far as dream tan goes. Can I get more than one coat out of a 2oz tub of dream tan. I'm 5'7 and will be about 178-180 showtime.
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...hp?t=106749341 will answer all your questions concerning dream tan. But, to say the least yes it will get all over the place. I still have stains on my car fabric from last year.

Alright thanks man, you re-changed my mind back to my orginal decision haha. Yea, Ive heard nothing but good stuff on it. Hows the shine/glow with it on. Will I need to spray some Pam on at all? Thanks
Because of the mess, last minute application, and the fact that many judges don't like it, I recommend going with pro-tan. It's a more "sure thing." However, I do like (and I'm a judge too) dream tan when it's used only as a light final coat on top of pro tan. That looks good (assuming it's not smeared).

Yes ^ , i use 4 coats pro-tan , and spread the dream-tan thin / not smeared , and it was not that messy, the only thing it got on was the inside of my swet pants and a little on my shirt , it's not like i am back stage rubbing my body on the walls.

I have had great success with Jan Tana's products; no runs, goes on smooth & lasts. Typically, start applying the night before- up to 3- coats right up to the prejudge, shower down & re-apply for the night show 2- additional coats. I have also had their reps spray me with good success.

Best,
This is a great recomendation. However maybe some people are unaware that Pro Tan also has two amazing products to be used over our Original Competition Color. The first is Quick Bronze. We have been using it at some of the Large pro shows for years and now many wont go onstage without it. Basically it is a tinted posing gel that takes your color a little darker but doesnt cover up your cuts or go on like finger paint. You apply it like any posing gel and it gives you the perfect stage sheen and takes your color to the next level.
The other product is Stage Finish. This is just like the product you are used to that starts with the word Dream. It is a one coat product used the same way. But if you layer a small amount smoothly and evenly over your Pro Tan base you will look better then you can ever imagine.
I am attaching a picture of two athletes. The one on the left has on 4 coats of Pro Tan color plus a light coat of Quick Bronze. The Athlete on the right is using a competitiors product You know the the starts with Jan ends with .... (not the one mentioned here). The point is look how great the athlete on the left looks and how natural and even the color is. This is what all athletes should strive to look like! The Athlete on the right looks a little muddy and you cannot see his definition as clearly due to the lights and the dark red tone. This is why using products that work together synergystically like the ones in our Pro Tan family is so important.

well now I'm not sure. It seems as if the pro tan quick bronze might be easier to apply and work better with pro tan since their both from the same co. Does anyone have any experience with the pro tan quick bronze? reps for input.
Due to time constraints, I decided to use Dream instead of Pro Tan for a photoshoot. I was lean but not super ripped for the shoot. After applying the dream tan it was like I instantly smoothed out. All detail was gone. After I showered the messy stuff off, my cuts were back. I tossed the remainder of the Dream Tan in the trash. Because of the mess it made, my wife was very happy that I decided never to use it again.
Go with 3-4 coats of Pro Tan and don't look back. Unless you WANT to instantly smooth out and have the judges overlook you, then go ahead and use it.

Guys in the 202 Olympia were using this backstage and they looked great on stage.
I just ordered Jan Tana and it says DO NOT use pam spray over it because the product will run. They want you to purchase their glaze instead to use. Is this just a ploy to sell their product or does pam and Jan Tana color really not work well together. ANy experiences with this?? Thanks

I would never recommend pam no matter what product you are using. The propelent in the product contains alcohol this is terrible for any self tanning product.
More importantly pam causes terrible blind spots and can really ruin a great physique. In the future please Try a few coats of our Pro Tan competition color along with a light coating of our Quick Bronze and or Musle Sheen. They are not designed to fry eggs , they are designed to highlight your body and have been used on thousands of athletes for 25 years.
Well, I don't wanna smooth out or hide my cuts. Is it possible that a light coat of dream tan would be ok? I just wanna look my best.
I understand your confusion. Quick Bronze is an amazing product. We have saved so many bodybuilders with terrible tans with a light coat of Quick Bronze. I never knock another product, but you can tell by some of the responses the product you are asking about may not be the best for you. 4 Coats of Pro Tan and some Quick Bronze and you will be the best out on stage hands down.
We used this same combo on a figure girl in Germany when we were there for an event. She had used the Pro Tan Dream Tan combo for years always fnishing no higher then 3rd. We tanned her with Pro Tan and then a light coat of Quick Bronze. Needless to say she won first place and also best overall. She had every one wanting to know what she used. Needless to say we sold alot of Quick Bronze that day and her husband signed up as our German Distributor.
Just out of curiosity, what did you end up using for your tanning combo and what did you think of the results?
My show is not until July 11th. However, I think I'm gonna go with protan competition tan and the quick bronze from pro tan. Just think it would be a good idea to keep the two together. I used protan comp tan last time, but didn't apply nearly enough. It worked well, but I needed at least 3-4 more coats applied liberally. I will have my wife basically pour it over my head this time!
