I thought it was due to my old keyboard which I just got replaced and no difference. I thought a button was stuck.
This doesn't happen all the time, for example now it's fine.
On other occasions though while using firefox or IE and I'm typing, the screen begins 'jumping' and as soon as I press the shift button, the previous window reloads. Any idea what could be the problem?

Sounds like a virus bro. go to norton.com or mcafee.com and they wil scan your computer for free checking for viruses. This is a common virus symptom.

Can't believe no rep-beggars have jumped in here yet...
What do you mean by "jumping"? Only thing I can think of is some dodgy piece of software/virus that is activating occasionally
When did this start happening?

Is your keyboard more advanced and came with a disk or software?
A couple times my printer was acting weird and I deleted the original file and re-installed after rebooting and all problems were addressed.
Or could be as simple as unplugging the device, restarting computer, and plugging back in. Sounds simple, but alot of times the biggest frustrations are the simpliest to fix.Keymaster of platinum accounts

so everytime u press shift the screen goes back 1 page right?
this isnt the answer on how to fix it, but it will help. if u press shift and roll the trackball on your mouse at the same time, it will go back/forward on your internet explorer. so the problem may be on your mouse or mouse trackball as well. try replacing the mouse. see what happens.

You could also try a USB keyboard, since you have tried two keyboards with the same issues on the PS2 port. Maybe something's up with your PS2 keyboard port.
