    Protein Powder right before bed?

Hey guys I was wondering if it is a good idea to take protein powder right before you sleep. I have been taking it thinking that it'd be good to give my body protein to work with while i sleep, but I also know that eating right before bed can cause excess fat etc... What do you think..?

God..eating before bed causing extra fat is the biggest fuking misconception out there...if ur within ur caloric limit for the day eating anything before bed wont do ****....now...before bed drink a casein protein shake...slower absorbtion so ur body can use it through out the night

Like poster above said (UCFBuilder), casein protein before bed is better than whey. Have whey in the morning and post-workout, cottage cheese at night (good source of casein).

I looked at some casein protein a few weeks back to have before bed. It was like 65% of daily fat intake for one scoop....

    1% or fat-free cottage cheese = 80-100 calories, 14g protein per serving.

I use whey before bed. Casein's overrated imo.

Plus your body is still digesting food you've been eating normally throughout the day, so a "slow digesting source" blah blah blah via a supplement isn't really neccessary for those who have high caloric intakes and eat tons day in day out. Food itself takes ages to get used anyway.

And no, eating before bed doesn't automatically turn you into a fatty. You'd think people would have moved past that point by now lol I wanna know where this **** starts so i can put a shotty up it's ass and finish it off for good.

Provided you aren't going over your calorie limit for the day, just stick with some protein that'll absorb slower - casein shakes, cottage cheese, etc.

it takes even longer to digest flesh than whey, so it seems that the best choices before bed would be either casein (either in powder form or from whole food such as cottage cheese) or some flesh (chicken, fish, etc.) with whey being in 3rd place.

sometimes if i have a hard lift day (legs or back/deads squats etc) i will have a protein shake with skim plus and peanut butter right before bed.(40+ grams protein!)

but if you are looking to keep the excess fat away, and don't want to waste your precious protein powder, then get yourself a large container of good old-fashioned no-fat cottage cheese. Its something like 13-18 grams per 1/2 cup serving (depending on brand)

I will usually choke down 1/2 cup - 1 cup of no-fat cottage cheese during my cutting months (march-august) right before bed. Also it is easy on the stomach. Whey is quickly digested, and right before bed it may keep you up. The only down-side is the taste IMO. Otherwise, its cheap, easy on the stomach, great source of slow-absorbing protein

I usually drink an 8oz glass of 1% milk or 1 scoop casein with 10oz of water before bed.......and eating fat before you go to sleep doesnt make you fat.............depending on your goals even having some peanut butter, almonds etc......before bed is just fine

LOL sorry but i really did LOL when I read this..."it has **** in that is meant to work on your body as you sleep" I think you mean that MM has some fat and also has casien in there which slows the digestion process. No offense bro and not making fun of no one, just dont hear stuff like that too often, I needed a laugh
