The "Hyooge Test Boost" is largely a myth. There have been countless threads concerning this subject already. Check the "search" feature.

I guess the next thing that someone is going to post is that his arms grow without directly working them, when he does squats or deads.
No brain, no gain.

in my experience........and IMO.......squats and regular deads as you are calling them will as you say BOOST your test level. But, its not going to happen over night and you still have to use other movements not to mention your diet plays a huge role in that one to.
Having said that.........."IF"........(and thats a big "IF") you have out of this world genetics then.........yes.........you can do just squats and deads and grow all over for sure and look like a champ............but I would not hold my breath on that one because in my 20+ years in the gym I have only known a couple of people to do just squats and deads and thats it.........ever.........and look like they train everything.......I'm not sure exactly what your wanting here but thats what I gathered........good luck.

there have been studies that suggest that most compound lifts that recruit a large number of muscle groups contribute to healthy hormone levels. But as was said they don't make a "hyooge!" difference.
I like "regular" deads becasue they have made my back grow like crazy and cured the muscle spasms and cramps in my left leg that I'd had ever since my back surgury.
I started doing stiff deads on leg day for my hams and glutes.

you engage your entire body with regular deadlifts; not so with still leggeds. you can also heft quite a bit more with regulars so regulars gets my nod for overall strength and muscle building.
i currently do stiff leggeds only and was told today that for a white woman, i have a butt. i guess it was a complement. i have a butt due to squatting and stiff leggeds.A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her

If anyone wants references, there are scholarly articles published. Reading through the references cited, hormonal response is dependent on a few factors, not just the type of lift. "low-volume high-load training will induce a nice testosterone response (Kraemer, 2000), while high-volume, low-moderate load training will induce a nice growth hormone response (Kraemer et al., 1993)."

You can't compare the two. Deadlifts are a back exercise and SLDL's are a leg exercise. You should be including both in your routine. Deads on back day and SLDL's on leg day. Done on a consistent basis over time they will aid in raising hormone levels and help to get you hyoooooge! But not overnight!
And Bill. My arms are hyooooge and I never train them! LOL!WTF? Training for life and other stuff!

A buddy at my gym was telling me that when doing heavy deadlifts and squats, it puts alot of strain on your femur bone. He said that putting that much strain signals the pituitary gland to produce more growth horomone because the body thinks that a bone is breaking/weakening. Sounds like he did some research but I'm not sure what to think. I do my deadlifts and squats since they are great strength builder exercises..
