I didn't make it to Eagle, I think I got to the one below it.
My troop went to Philmont but I didn't go with them. I have no idea how many nights camping I had though, I went all the time. As one of the leaders said once: "he doesn't care about rank or merit badges, he just wants to go camping." Pretty much summed it up.

I'm an Eagle Scout and came very close to the deadline as well. I didn't go on too many crazy camping trips because I was always in High School sports...but I definitely am happy I followed through with it.
Great to talk about in job interviews.

Another Eagle Scout here...I was also right down to the wire lol.
I can safely say that I didn't miss our monthly camping trips from the time I joined at 10 years old til the time I finished my Eagle at 18...96 months, at least 2 nights out a month, 192 nights of camping, plus 7 weeks of summer camp. Winter, Summer, didn't matter. Being outdoors was great. Of course my dad was the Scoutmaster for most of my tenure so that made it kinda gay at times but oh well.
We also did a High-Adventure trip to Northern Tier in Bissett, Manitoba, Canada and canoed for 10 days out in the wilderness with nothing but what we could carry...It was an absolutely amazing experience and I'll never forget it. I'd love to go back some day.
It's a great life experience and an accomplishment that not a lot of people can reach...I'm proud of it, personally.
I'd like to get back to being involved in the troop, it's a rewarding experience.

if i ever have a son i'm making sure he tries it out. i think its very important in life experiences and what not. i was pretty much the same as you with always going on every outing. i would still show up late if i had a prior commitment instead of not going.
jw do any of these outdoors shows make you rage when they make it seem 100x harder than it is?

Yeah it's kinda ridiculous lol...But at the same time understandable cause a random person really doesn't know two ****s about starting a fire you know? The stuff you learn in Scouts gets ingrained in your head and just becomes natural after a while, you don't even think of it as stuff that you learned, it's just a part of you.

Just add me to the statistics, I put on Eagle just after my 18th as well, having the baord and papers signed on my bday. I was pretty active in school with sports and girls , but I still made the time to hit up the trips and meetings and such. I started with cub scouts when I was 7 and made it all the way through. I try to help as much as I can now but it has been tough with the military and all.
Remember some good times and support it totally, never got the oppertunity to go to Philmont but you bet your ass if as an adult I got a shot I am there in a minute.

yeah i got Eagle too, about a year before i was out. I had alot of fun in scouts. Lots of camping, and hiking. I was never at Philmont though, but would like to try it if i get the opprotunity. My favorite high adventure trip was definitely Glacier National Park Montana. If any of you's ever get the chance to go there, it's definitely worth it. It's the best hiking/whitewater rafting trip I ever went on. The sights of the mountains were really beautiful. Thought i'd mention another good trip, since you's were talking about philmont.

We had a group do Boundary Waters while we did Northern Tier. They loved it. Last year we had a group go to Florida Sea Base...Just need to go to Philmont to complete the tour.

I forgot the most important moment in the history of ever: When Glenn Beck and Ayn Rand teamed up to defeat socialism and fascism and restored the world to the way it was supposed to be before Obama forged the One Ring.
