    Smile low intensity cardio

I really love cardio, but I guess too much of it seems to cannibalize muscle so I have reduced it somewhat. I am on medication for depression and lately, I have been very down so I really want to up my cardio again. If I do low intensity cardio for an hour to an hour and a half three times a week along with just half hour hiit sessions after my weight training days, is that going to eat up muscle? I try to eat about 100 gr. of lean protein everyday to combat muscle loss. I'm almost 53 and don't want to lose bone density either, but cardio really makes me happy. What do ya think? Blessings, Cinda

I'd say go for it... especially if it brings up your mood.
Just don't forget to factor in those long sessions when it comes time to chow down and recover.

I agree. If it makes you feel good then do it. Typically hiit should be done on days off from weights because it is pretty intense and do low intensity on lifting days. But again, do whatever works and do whatever makes you feel good.
I would maybe try get in some more protein though if you can. Try for a gram per pound of body weight.
