    Sushi - Tapioca Paper?

Hey all, was wondering if anyone has any info on tapioca paper.

I was in the grocery store over lunch break and picked up some summer rolls wrapped in "tapioca paper" thinking it would be fairly low carb. However, the information I seem to be getting is varied and not very clear...I believe this is fairly close to a pure tapioca paper as opposed to a rice/tapioca blend only because it was extremely thin and translucent.

Any sushi fans have any idea on carb content?

    Thanks in advance.

Sushi in general is not good on keto, except for carb-up, it's got far too much rice, so worrying about the carbs in the tapioca paper is a bit of a waste.

For what it's worth, tapioca is a no-no on keto.
    65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs = keto.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I was only curious about the tapioca paper because the filling of the summer roll was vegetables, crab, and I believe some small pieces of avocado...no rice :-) The wrap itself appeared to be the only item in question as to carb content but I could be wrong.

    Thanks again.

I've always heard it referred to as rice paper. The sheets are small (like 6.5") and are really thin and translucent. You're looking at about 4g of carbs per sheet. After you add the carbs in your filling and recognize that you need about 5 rolls to be full, I'd probably avoid the stuff. If you find wider rolls, then you're looking at even more carbs.

I think he's got the term "sushi" mixed up with a spring roll. Sushi refers more to the rice and nori wrap, not the fish.

If you're talking about any spring roll wrap they are all loaded with carbs. I believe a brand call "Bahn Trang" its about 40 carbs per serving.

I guess its call Banh Trang...Double Parrot is the brand.

You're better off using lettuce for the wrap. I've seen restaurants do this.
