    Smith machine question

    Let me first apologize if this is the wrong question in the wrong place and/or already answered somewhere else....but...

    How much does just the bar weigh on the Smith machine?

    Your really never know I have had smith machine bars that if you didnt put weight on them they would actually go up on there own.

    VIX: don't sweat the weight , in any case.....all will be different no matter where you go, and if you are in one place, the weight is all relevant...

    The same **** happens in my gym, no weight, the bar slowly goes up.

    I count the bar as ZERO, and it seems to transfer pretty well to free weight. My gym only has SM, but I have a squat station at home that I use as well. I tend to migrate to the SM, because I have no spotter at the house.

    I'll give some more usless info.( incase dbx stops by) I have a Yukon smithmachine. The bar weights 18 lbs. and the total assembly weighs 26.25 lbs.
