Pork= Poison?

here's the deal fellas and ladies, I come running back to you all again for help:

So I am dating this bombshell of a Chechyn model, she was studying in Jordan and we ahve been having a debate about some things she learned about Pork.

Without going into the possibilities of rhetroic and Propaganda for the Islamic faith, they don't eat pork, and the reasons are myriad. When I got her down to it, we talked about the nutrition aspects, something scientific. I told her how pork was leaner than even some chicken cuts and that cooking prok thoroughly kills any parasitic trychnia worms which cause trychinosis.

She went on to talk about how there are still worms within pork even after cooking, and that she learned people who eat alot of pork have this in their muscles. She talked about how pork stomachs containlarge amount of acid, that pork contains larger than normal amounts of Histamine which increase inflammation and sulfurmesenchymal mucus which also causes swelling. Something also about certain chemicals destroying human cartilage and ligaments...

For you less than adept nutritionists, I practically thought she was making up names fro stuff, please someone tell me she's at least striking some actual scientific claims... Please, she's a cutie.

Propaganda to back up religious tradition. It's fine to follow a tradition, it's ridiculous and also unnecessary to make up pseudo science as a justification for it.

Science is correct. She is incorrect. Pork is fine & your muscles will be worm-free if you eat it.

I don't know about other humans, but I don't eat my feces and I don't eat my kids either-something pigs do though and that is beyond dirty. It's known that pigs are smart and they're well aware of what they're actually eating.

Of course people don't eat their own feces (unless they have a fetish), but other animals do. Pigs don't eat their feces either unless they are in a drastic situation. A dog is probably more likely to eat his own poop than a pig.

many meats have worms and parasites and bacteria in them. thats why you cook them, other than to make them taste good. you have to kill the bad stuff.

wild meats such as venison or wild fish are also more likely to have worms or parasites
i'm not sure but this may also go for organic meat as they arent treated with hormones/antibiotics like other meat animals

Well,I guess propaganda like that is used to sway the young generation away from pork. Actually, this week Egypt exterminated all of its pigs because of the scare for the pig flu, and no cases were yet reported there, just need an excuse.

Damn, well, I'm 1/2 pleased to understand that most of my information is at least backed up by the scientific community, but otherwise, 1/2 let down to realize that it's really her religous education that has made her biast... Thanks for the input brains, you guys get repped , Mashallah! lol

Actually, trichinella (the worms most people think of with pork) does infect your muscles. Another worm (a tapeworm) called taenia solium, also infests the muscles as well as liver, brain and other tissues. It can actually cause a very serious infection of the brain called cysticercosis.

Clearly a religious propaganda, If her story was true, Pork would have been banned for consumption in the US, Since its widely available, her story is clearly proven false.

My dog will eat every morsel of cat **** from the litter box if I don't shut the door, preventing her from entering that room. Lions and tigers will eat their young, as do domestic house cats.

All of this hating on pigs is silly. It's usually driven by some quack ass animals rights mindset or a pseudo-science nut who heard a rumor from some drunk.

You know I jsut read another reason why the pig is frowned upon at least in Jewish circles, it is an affront to the Kosher idea... It is a cloven animal yet it does not chew it's own cud. To be a kosher animal an animal has to be cloven and a cud chewer. SO, in sense when the pig is laying down in the mud with it's feet out, it is showing off what seems to be kosherness, but on the inside it is infact not. Apparently in the Jewish faith, a spiritual pretender is quite a nasty thing to be.

Also, the Islam thing with pigs (and probably the judaism) thing too: I believe it stemmed from the medieval times, when cooking knowledge wasn't at all what it is now. People probably regularyl undercooked pork and regularly, people's brains got trychinosis (worms on the brain). In the old days the religous rules made sense, since the people didn't realize what in pork made others go nuts-o.

Anyways, I jsut read a fact that most pork is cut leaner than alotta skinless chicken breasts, by a few grams even, Yey Pork!

yes, as that is all religion is - outdated pseudo-science to explain things people just didnt know enough about
