Well i am sure there is another post like this, because i read it before, but i dont remeber exactly what it said and I cant find it.
The quesiton is just as the title says, how can i know if i am in ketosis or not?
I have been reading and the people says that at the second day, or thirth day or X day they get in to ketosis, but how they know that?

If you have never been in Ketosis buy some keto sticks. You can pick them up at most drug stores in the US and Canada. Ask the pharmisist if you can't find them on the shelf. Usually they will be with diabetic supplies. Lots of people will say not to waist your money but they are cheap and I get an instant gratification when I see the test strip turn color. Besides, it is always nice to see evidence that your effort is paying off.
-odd metalic taste in your mouth and bad breath.
-Odd smelling urine is another symptom.
-You will pee like a race horse.

Ive been doing Keto since Monday, i bought keto strips yesterday at marcs, 100 strips for 20.40, went home peed on it and no ketosis yet, did it this morning and still no ketosis
hopefully it will come around soon, i have been peeing a lot but i have also been drinking a ton of water, i noticed my water tasted really weird this morning and i think it was my breath but im not 100%Best Lifts

My breath isnt bad and my pee doesn't smell any worse than normal pee, im not dizzy no headaches, not as tired as i thought i would be.
Plus all those things could be just mental, since the stix cant be mental it's either a different color or its not it would make me feel better that im doing it right.Best Lifts

Trust me dude. Those sticks have a tendancy to lie.
Ask anyone on here. Depending on your fluid intake, what else you have in your system.. could be anything.
The best judge is yourself and the basic signs. Agreed though that it is a good reassurance.
People take anywhere from 2-7 days usually to get into keto.
If you're not in there by your 7th day, I would think that maybe you should really take a look at what you're eating, cut out any and all carb sources,(that means veg too) and boost your fat intake UNTIL you reach ketosis, then adjust back to a normal keto macro.
Essentially you will force yourself into it by taking 0 carbs. And then you will be able to assess your tolerance as to what amount of carbs keeps you in.
For me, it's 30g max. Most days I try not to go over 15. Sometimes veggies get sacrificed for the good of the fat and I will save my neccessary carbs for PWO.
And just FYI,
My breath isn't bad. Just tastes like a tin can.
I don't make a habit of smelling my pee. But I don't think its really that much worse than normal.
Zero headaches.

thanks for all the info, it's only been 4 days so i could not be in ketosis yet. how long have you been doing keto for?
yeah i guess its a good thing i dont have any of those side effects, im kinda pissed now that i spend $20 on those strips

I KNOW THIS IS AN OLD POST...
but instead of just asking the same damn question i searched it.
anyhow,
my ketosticks have gone from trace, to minimal to NONE...
I am lifting and running and also eating super clean with drinking like, CRAZY ammounts of water.
My deal is this:
VPX Meltdown (supposedly better than EC) + split routine heavy as i can get + HIIT twice a week + less than 15g carbs a day = ??
I hope it will start working soon. I am also watching calories religiously, trying to stay 60/35/5 if i can.The Ultimate Resource on Dieting and Intermittent Fasting

yep, thats what i thought.
like i said, unlike so many others, i actually use that search box.
so its scientificly not possible to restrict that much and NOT be in ketosis?
as long as i maintain my deficit, i should start to see faster fat loss, i imagine.
I will give it 5 days for my water loss (was on creatine as well) and then start to measure with a tape.

Lemme say this my man. I've been bugging out about ketosis because I haven't felt sluggish or had any weird tastes... but my carb intake in under 30g and I lost 7 pounds this week (on a 500 calorie cut too ) so I would say **** it dude, don't worry, if you're losing weight, you're doing something right!

i don't smell my urine but i noticed that i entered keto in just 3 hours after running realy bad smell out of mouth and i just knew i am keto )) that evening i had dizzines and little bit of tiredness now i am going to do same just run fkin 40km and i am sure i will on keto after hitting the wall with my head
