Great video! That's one of the major reasons why I don't take supplements. I only use whey because I know what I'm getting when I purchase it....whey. LOL.
I won't stop until I conquer my body and mind.

Most don't use Yohimbe, they use Yohimbine hydrochloride, the standardized form of Yohimbine which is the principle active chemical in Yohimbe bark. 3 grams of Yohimbine HCl would likely cause seizures and renal failure.
This is why the supplement industry is in hot water, because yahoos with no clue think they are biochemists and put a bunch of **** in a capsule with no idea what effects it will have on the body.

Great clip...like most other newbies when I first started lifting I took everything I could get my hands on. 2 years later it is whey only...not even a multi and I comlete it with good eating habits.

I loved that movie..bigger better faster...what ever the name is. this is really nothing new...but there are a lot of nieve people out there looking for a quick fix. the mark up on these products is so huge, and there is hardly any labor. i still think some sups are fine, protien powder and vitamins from a good source. the consumer has to be responsible and study up. what kills me is all the adds in the muscle mags with the "pro" bodybuilders endorsing products.
i love when they quote stuff like "i won the mr. olympia cause i started taking supper cuts 2000". and its like, no, you won cause you have been taking steroids and gh products for 10-20 years. I realize these ifbb guys train there asses off and are very disiplined when it comes to diet, but i can't stand the endorsments of the supplement products that clearly are not there only source of assistance building their muscles. its a straight up lie and a discrace to the bodybuilding world. its funny, cause there was an interview with jay cutler that was deleted out of the movie,( probably cause the ifbb made the producer take it out), but even culter says steroids are part of the sport. he says its not the only part, but needed to compete at the top level....and thats the way it is.

And as with everything, people forget the obvious; that any a$$hole can make a youtube video.
Let's take a moment to discuss what we actually saw, shall we?
False advertisement, marketing gimmicks, photography tricks. Anything new here? Umm..no.
Now, we have someone we've never heard of...making a funny clip about making largely bogus supps....and not actually naming or accusing a single specific company of doing this. Nope. Just implying that everyone acts without business scruples.
An most of the responses to the masterpiece posted here is, "OMG, thanks so much for opening my eyes!!"?
Marketing works both ways. And most of you were just marketed and corralled into a new pen with the simple click of a youtube video, and didn't even think about it.

agree!!! but have you noticed how many fly by night sups there are. i'm not sure if it's cause the makers want to avoid law suits or if they just constintly change labels to seem new. remember twin lab gh fuel, hot stuff, right stuff, smilax, seems like products come and go like crazy......kinda crazy...do they go under? doubt it.

I think its a fair point DBX - this particular video though was an exhert from Bigger Stronger Faster, which was a commercially successful film rather than a youtube vid.
Its true though that something presented as documentary (balanced) can be used to cloud a personal agenda - just look at Michael Moore - full of half truths and slight of hand but presented as journalism.
In the main I am sceptical about supplements myself. I take protein powder but thats it and I have seen results with it. I havent seen any benefit from anything with the words tech, NO, xplode, power or cell in the title but I'd welcome a debate on it.

I agree...I think..."if you can afford to"..Just eat 6-8 nice size meals with decent foods in them, drink plenty of skim milk, water, have some cheat foods when you feel the need and you are better off. As far as size goes. I can eat lots, lift heavy and get big. I dont need all the supplements.
I have taken my fare share of them but no longer and dont plan on it anytime soon.

Oh, sure! And believe me, I am a bigger skeptic than most of you might think from that post. We just have to take a balanced approach to what and "who" we buy into or from.

Exactly! And it's no different from exposing local car repair shops who charge you for work you don't need and/or they don't even perform on your car. Caveat emptor, always.

There are many supps whose efficacy can be debated, no doubt about it. But there are also many "basic" supps whose efficacy cannot be debated, as they are soundly backed by actual science. But now....we could go further into those "proven" basic supps and what kind of results they might actually translate into when we take them through various means. The variables are almost endless.
So, in the end we try to choose the "proven" supps, and try to buy them from manufacturers that we believe to be reputable, and use what they say they use in the tubs we purchase. That's about the best we can do if we want to enter the supp world.

I agree. It is a matter of opinion but you would be hard pressed to have everyone who has ever taken supps say they didn't work. I personally would say, some dod work better than others, but that is for me. As with everything else, supps will show different results on different folks. The marketing strategy used may be a vendetta because of a particular run in, issue or unsatisfied result one received. I take it with a grain o'salt!!!

DBX,repped for putting it so well. I have had good success with various sups over the years, and alot of disappointments. It is a buyer beware world, look for clinical trials from trusted companies. Also try to remember that just because it works for me, does not mean it will work for you.

Why am I suddenly thinking of a Big Mac... Ah yeah - Supersize Me! Same concept. It's basically crap, but if you market aggressively and to the right crowd, you'll sell a boatload. Spend even a little time in the supplements forum and you'll see who the target market is, and that they're buying these things by the ton. We were all young & gullible once, fortunately most of us learn the lesson over time.

I do 3 to 5 gms of Green Tea Extract daily for years. Never a problem. Someone however put a heavy dose of Yohimbe in a supp I took a few years ago and I quickly turned beet red with a rash from head to toe. Unfortunately I had real difficulty breathing and had to go to the ER.

What's the difference between the extract and drinking a cup of green tea?

I cap my own using extract powder that is 95% polyphenols and 50% EGCG (EpiGalloCatechinGallate). Supposedly 200 mg of EGCG is equal to 2 to 3 cups of Green Tea. So when I take 3 gms (5 caps) I am taking the equivalent of 1.5 gms of EGCG or between 15 and 22 cups of tea. Hope this helps.

It does but sometimes you just have to have the pleasure of a good cup of tea.

Ocha wa, itsumo ii desu ne. (Green) Tea is always good isn't it. Years living in Tokyo turned me on to it's pleasures. Its just that at my age the need for the strong performance is as great as the pleasure of a simple cup of Ocha.

The show goes on
I found fhe movie referenced above to be quite balanced.
It offered both sides of the issues it focused on,
I don't think you can get a good idea what it was about by just that one clip or gleen some kind of hidden motivation of its creator.
I recommend it highly.
as for the topic:
I personally have gotten some decent benefits from supplementation.
On some supplements I have gotten zilch.
It is a trial and error deal any way you look at it, so be ready to spend a bit before you find something that works for you
