suck it up...
it will make you stronger mentally, I know its easier said than done but, just do it. Some things that could help is keep yourself busy, it'll help you stop thinking about food, or do cardio, that seems to reduce appetite in some people.

What kind of sugar? Like candies?
If you get candy craving, might try sugar free hard candies and suck on em. Or ask a diabetic lol
But I'm wondering why you ask about sugar/sugary foods specifically. When I get cravings, it's for like 1000 calorie burgers and stuff. Dieting turns "normal" foods into dessert for me lol

Gum and fruit are both submitting to sugar cravings, not resisting them.

Just set yourself up a proper diet plan and that way you know exactly what you can eat and when. If it's not part of the plan you don't even consider putting it in your mouth. Once you start giving yourself the choice you'll be much more temped to say "just this once" ... before you know it once turns into 10 times a week and there goes the diet.
Oh and if you drink water with BCAA's and cystal lite while you're on a cutting diet that also helps

supreme protein bar imo. honestly..having something with sugar now and again isn't going to kill you, unless you're a diabetic or something to that extent...general rule of avoiding HFCS though.

Jello sugar free pudding has only 60 calories. Regular jello sugar free has 10.
Eat that.
Also fruit.
There are tons of 100 calorie choices available.
