Depends on how experienced you are e.g. a complete skinny beginner could gain 30 LBM in one year whereas someone who's been training for 10+ years would be lucky to gain 1-2lbs LBM in one year
in b4 "but if you were cut open, drained of blood, water and glycogen you will only have 1 lbs of pure dry muscle gained"

1lb of solid muscle per month is a good short term goal, although you won't reach it consistently. 10lb of lean mass in a year is a good long term goal.
I would love to see anyone gain 1lb of muscle per week. 52lb of lean mass in a year? Body build for 2 years then win a Mr.O. All natural baby.Last edited by Opies; 04-28-2009 at 04:30 AM.

Gaining muscle/LBM is a non linear thing, think of it as an exponential curve
Gains in LBM lbs on the Y axis
Time in years along the X
(numbers are not relevant here)
Roughly it would be something like this but the majority of gains are in the first few years so the curve would be a little less steep at the beginning

how is that depressing? You get your noob gains and shoot up. You're 12lbs heavier in 2-3 months. Your gains slow down. You put on 6lbs every 2 months. Thats over 30lbs in a year. Thats at least 14-15kgs. Ever seen how much of a difference 15kgs makes? Alot.
And who the hell wants to get big in a day? Where is the fun in that?
