this is absolutely nuts...
Ammo... its insane right now. if you can find it, its outrageous. but i cant even find it! i cant find primers, i cant find loaded ammo!
Walmart got a truck in last night, i was the third person in line this morning waiting at the counter. The guy in front of me bought all their .223 and all their 9mm.... he couldnt carry it all out and had to get a damn cart...i was a little pissed to say the least.
normally my grandma can get me ammo, since she works at another walmart, but, that walmart hasnt gotten ammo in over a month now!
the local range has some, but its brown bear, and their asking $500/1000... **** that. $15.00/50 for american eagle 9mm.
why cant the ammo industry adapt to the market? its gone from bad a couple months ago to horrible.
i cant even practice!
-
$1.05
that would be because the us has bought enough ammo in the last 3 months to kill the world population a few hundred times over.
you can't work more than 100% of capacity, you've got two wars on and millions of americans buying all the ammo they can carry.

its hard for me to grasp i guess... im used to walking into the store and there being plentiful ammounts of ammo.... like you stated above, were all hording the stuff.
i pretty much answered my own question, that guy in front of me, hell, people like my dad, are the reason that there isnt any ammo the guy has 5k rds of ammo in a safe that he refuses to shoot in case shtf. That guy in front of me in line must have bought atleast 1.5k of each, 9mm and .223.
Hopefully people will get all bought out to where they cant afford it any more and ammo prices will plunge back to where they were before.
And ratmonkey, you hit the nail on the head with the last three months. WHen i bought my m4 in november, i remember reading online about how people cant find ammo and yadda yadda yadda and thinking, idk what these people are talking about, the stuff is everywhere. And it was, around here... the madness just hadnt spread yet. In december or janurary around here i could still driver over to any of three walmarts or a dicks and find ammo on any given day. I remember back in december i could also still find plenty of Ammo online like prvi m193 and what not. Now im wishing i would have bought up then and worried about accessories for my gun now... cause if i would have spend that sort of money on ammo a couple months ago, id be siting on about 5k worth of m193 right now.
my dad and I are gonna get into reloading, but theres not much of a point to rush into it right now, you cant find primers or bullets.

I don't know how much longer this trend can hold up. As you mentioned, people will reach a point where they simply don't have the money or run out of room to hoard. I think things will be back to normal in the fall.
On a side note, 9mm used to be harder to find than Bigfoot in my area. It's actually starting to show up on the shelves now, little by little...but it's there. But .45acp is now impossible to find.

Even here in Florida, a very gun friendly state, you cant find anything anywhere. Its crazy for sure, but I guess most people are well stocked now.

That's a good thing. According to calculations: by six months into the zombie-pocalypse, surviving humans will be outnumbered by a ratio of 400,000:1.

Yankees for life.
It's not too bad up here, compared to you guys. Wal-Mart has no pistol ammo but plenty of rifle. Dicks has a fair amount of both. And we have a Cabela's so if we need ammo we can just make a 30-40 min trip to get it, since they almost always have plenty in stock.
CT is a hippie state so there isn't as much hording going on I guess.

Your telling me, I need to invest in a shotgun because 00 buckshot is plentiful.
And maybe a 22 to plink, because that's the ONLY ammo Walmart seems to have.

I am one of those people that has enough ammo to kill 10,000 people. I have two big ass tubs slam full of 9mm, three full of 12 gauge double buck shot. I see things turning ugly and am fully prepared.

Cabelas was hit pretty hard when I went up there a couple months ago, mainly on 9mm. An entire shelf was gone. Maybe they got a new shipment though. Overall, I'd saw we're much better than other states. Then again we never have cheap Wal Mart ammo (in the southern part of the state anyways)

TORNADO KICK
i own a sporting goods store in canada, and can tell you over the last 2 years .223 cal and most reloading primers especially small have been SUPER hard for me to get and bring in why?
becuase every plant that makes them is being contracted out by the us army right now.
-
TORNADO KICK
with that being said just cause its hard for me to get its probly alot easier for americans to get, i know the one supplier i have told me if you know anyone stationed on a us army base they can usually get you a crate of .223 rounds for real cheap thats actually how they have been getting theres.
i would suggest trying that bros assuming theres a base near by and you have some cash to by a crate.

Here in Utah I can't even find .22 LR at Walmart. We have a Cabelas and two Sportsmans warehouses. None of them have any ammo, their shelves are bare most of the time. I lucked out last week though, and scored 500 9mm at the Gun Show. That place was a madhouse though, and everyone was scrambling to get their hands on what they could. My boss ended up spending $1,200 bucks on ammo, just to stock up on all the different calibers he shoots.

I went to two gun stores today, not commercial **** either, but my secret spots where I'm usually able to score ****. No go. My friend who runs one of the places said that they've been in contact with the top five distributors in the country and they have nothing to offer. He said his main hook-up has $200 million in back orders, that's right $200,000,000. I'm shifting my attention to locating .223 components NAO!!!! If anyone finds any please let me know.

i cant find anything either. i am completely out of small pistol primers. my glock is just collecting dust. im just shooting .22s and some .223 sparingly. as a student i just dont have the $ to buy in huge volume, so im forced to buy bullets/primers a couple thousand at a time. i have plenty of powder, bullets, cases and time to load and shoot. i just have zero primers.

Would you not be pissed off if the guy infront of you at walmart bought all the ammo you wanted to buy then took it to his store and marked the price up? does that seem right to you? thats how its supposed to work?
mabe im wrong but it dosnt seem right
seems like they are trying to create a monopoly by bieing the only store with ammo to buy from
if the guy wasnt a store owner reselling then hes just an ass for completely buying out walmart of ammo he wont be able to use up for years

Why are people stocking up on ammo? What do you expect to happen? Civil war or something?

Oh I forgot it should be fair. We should just have the government distribute the ammo to everyone equally so no one gets pissed off.
