Does insurance cover this??
If a rock/brick falls from the sky and hits the hood of your car, does insurance cover it?
I was driving in a not-so-nice area of the city, and something fell from the sky (it was about the size of a small bird, but it wasn't soft) and hit the hood of my car. There are two deep scratches and a dent. I was on a main street and it was rush hour so I couldn't stop to do anything. The buildings beside the street are stores with apartments above, so I can only guess that someone had thrown something out of a window with the intention of hitting a vehicle.
I'M GOING TO SNAP. I've already had a stressful day and that pretty much pushed me over the edge....trying to keep my calm, just went and hit the punching bags at the gym. WTF!

The only way you are going to know is to phone them and ask them, why make a thread about it.

Wow. Sorry, just thought I would see if anyone knew or had experiences like this, and had to vent.

Will probably cover it, but depending on what your deductible is, it may not be worth turning in to your insurance. For example, if you have a $500 deductible, and it costs $400 to fix, you wouldnt make a claim. Or if it costs $700 to fix is it worth possibly having your premiums go up? Only way to know for sure is to check your policy or call them.

I was in the insurance industry for over 18 yrs. I know here in MA it's covered under your comprehensive coverage, but your deductible would apply.
Call your agent.
Good luck!

Poor thing! This would TOTALLY happen to me, lol. That's just the type of "luck" I have! I feel for ya! And as the ladies said, the only way to know is by checking with your insurance, and I completely get the "venting" thing. Good luck! I hope it all works out!

This.
I work in insurance claims. It depends on your policy coverages. Call your agent or claims department.
Comprehensive claims shouldn't affect your premiums but I suppose that depends on your specific policy/insurance company.

x2 It's very likely they will cover it but find out whether it's actually worth it. In the end it may be cheaper just to take it to a panel beater yourself.

I figure they will cover it. If you want to make the claim. Maybe take it by a shop and see what the damage estimates out to first. I am sure you can stand close talk sweet and get a hell of a deal on anything you want. So it could just be cheaper to do it that way.

Agreed. It should be covered under comprehensive as if it were vandalism.
Now, have some wine and calm down. Take a deep breath and let it all roll off.
 Wine always helps............

Thanks everyone, I'm probably just going to look after it myself or get a friend to try fix it for me!
I'm still so pissed off, I love my car and now it looks like crap!

Funny I just had something happen to me when I was driving home from work about an hour ago. Two right turn lanes (one is turn right or left), I'm the first one in the middle with my right turn signal on. Light turns green and I'm supposed to pull into the lane farthest away. Some ballsy dude in a Civic decides to cut all the way over and cut me off and put me up on top of an 8" tall median..and keeps driving.
Now, the guy was scared s***less, as well he should be, you don't pull right into/under a lifted truck! Guy better be glad I have 35" tires on my truck or I'd run him down for a ruined rim!
I'm still pretty heated. I know how upsetting it is.
