Giving up your rights as a parent (serious)

Look me and my ex-wife have had this long battle for 5 years and some change, she recently is mad at me because i went and got the child support lowered from $700 a month to $500 a month, and ever since she is bugging me to stay away from her and my daughter, and the funny thing is i have been trying to see my daughter and she won't let me.

Well she wants me to give up my rights of my daughter but still wants child support can she do this? I mean if i did do that, beings she wanted me to give it up, would i have to pay child support? i live in north carolina and i don't know the laws here, but also i don't want to give up my child, but i never see her, what should i do?

Talk to a lawyer about it. It varies from state to state. Trust me, they always get mad I just lowered mine from 900 to 275 and my ex is pissed!

Im pretty sure she can't stop you from see'ing your daughter...

You have a right unless there is some type of court order against you.

Dude, the best advice anyone can give you, is go see a family lawyer, no one on here will give you 100% right information than a family lawyer can give you.

You should have rights to see your child on weekends or something and that is usually the case...

get a lawyer that specializes in parental rights and child support type stuff....

i doubt you will get full custody if you attempt for that, but maybe request unsupervised visits on the weekends or 2 weekends a month or something. It'll be impossible to win full custody from the mother i'd imagine.

But explain u would like to see your child and she is not working with, you would like unsupervised visits without the mother present to spend time with your child.

Child support, u r prob gonna be stuck with no matter what unless u went to court and she agreed that if you gave up parental rights she would give up asking for child support and i doubt she'll do that

No if you give up rights to the child, then your not the "father" which means u don't owe ****.
The mother will only regret it in the future when your daughter goes looking for you and she finds out the truth. The daughter will lose respect for her cuz she took her own father away.

That is not always the truth. It varies alot mainly depending on your judge.

It sounds like you guys were married didnt you go thru custody hearings when u guys got divorced?

she is just a pain in the butt with this, i have found someone new in my life and she is always messing things up,

She would never give up the child support because she is soly depended on it and is mad at me for lowering it and having a new person in my life that i never told her about, reason being that she would mess things up plus i really don't think its any of her business, i would never try to harm my child, or let anyone harm her period.

actully no we got a divorce because she got pregnant with another child to another guy and she knew she couldn't get away from it cause i was in alaska and she was in indiana, and i never took leave for a year so that i was able to get the divorce but she keep holding it back from me until she got pregnant

Well if she takes your rights then, you prob wont have to pay anything. Her problem..she can get a better job.

i think it is fayetteville, cumberland county that is who i go thur with the child support, i have been paying cumberland county for 4 years and i was giving her willingly $600 a month without a court order, she got greedy and wanted more cuz she wasn't working and found a loop hole

Like I said bro its more up to your judge at the time. But I totally know what your going thru trust me I am going through the same thing right now and it sucks. Your paying for a child that a seflish and immature person wont let you see. I know when times it get tough it seems easier if you just signed your parental rights over but for the childs sake just take that bitch back to court for visitation rights. I know my brother got his child support dropped b/c his ex wife continually refused to let him see his sons, so the judge eventually got pissed and ordered he didnt pay anything in child support for 3 years

no **** i will start to do this, bug her and bug her to she her and if she doesn't i will talk to a judge sweet that will f uck her so bad, plus she will see that see is stupid, i just want to see her without all the fuss, she is constinly saying it was because she was black and that the only reason we had a kid is so that i could go around and say i have a mixed baby personal, i have messed my whole family over because some disown me because they told me not to marry her and i did anyways and now this is the end result, and it wasn't because she was black it was more alone the lines when she met my family, she asked my mom if she could get a beer as soon as she got in the door, first time talking or seeing my mother

Wow I hope this isn't soley about the money. I'm not trying to be negative but what does seeing your daughter have to do with making sure she is cared for financially? Your ex has no right and no legal means of preventing you from seeing your daughter but the first thing that pops into your mind is "Well in that case I shouldn't have to pay!" Your daughter has nothing to do with you and your ex's bull**** but you seem all to willing to walk away from her and move on with your new life. If you really wanted to see your daughter nothing would stop you. It's not like she went to Mexico. I don't care who disagrees with me because there are already too many children without fathers and then they wonder why these children are crazy. If it's that easy for you to let it all go then maybe you should never have had kids and should practice effective birth control in the future. You're in here talking about your family told you not to marry her. Your family doesn't have to live your life--you do. You think someone is gonna disown you because your wife asked for a beer? truely the only reason why i wanted to know is if thats what she wants then there will be a price to pay, basically hopefully she isn't stupid to try and lock me out of her life, we had a child because i truely in my heart thought she was the right one so we got married and before i deployed to iraq to invade that country i had gotten her pregnant, when i got hurt from a road side bomb i had came home early to see her lying in bed with another guy nude a sleep, so i woke them up told them to leave, i went back to iraq before i could get a divorce, like two weeks later, and she had my baby a few months later, when i got back from iraq she had disappeard, i had no idea where she was, her family didn't even tell me where she was, i guess she had it in her mind since the guys coming home from iraq was killing there wives at fort bragg then i was going to do the same because i was at fort bragg, so i tried to get a some what relationship with my daughter but i was in alaska and she was in indiana, then i went to korea, and back to fort bragg i have been trying to see my daughter but she isn't allowing it so i wanted to see what my rights are and hopes to scare her into letting me see my daughter, nothing else has worked my next step is to go to court if that doesn't work then i have no choice but to go and fight for full custiody
