Craving Free
My new years resolution was to eliminate all processed food from my diet, and simply not put any of it into my body. Since January 2nd, I have not had a single processed food, candy, soda, energy drink, artificial sweetener, or anything of the sort, and I have been for the past 2 weeks, craving free, hunger free, and free of any illness, pain, or mobility problem for the first time in about 8-10 years. I am now in the stage of what one would consider to be "orthorexic", but without the mental issues that go along with it. I don't have cravings anymore simply because "I won't put that stuff in my body". I don't like the way it makes me look, feel, and function. I only eat:
Water, Meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, kefir/milk, green tea, supplements, and an occasional glass of wine or alcoholic beverage (no more than 2-3 at a sitting. Period). Nothing else. And no cravings. It took a while to kick them, but it can be done, and life is much easier and better not being a "hostage" to junk, ****ty food that is basically a money making scam, and REALLY doesn't taste that good, when you get to the point of wanting to only put nourishing, good food in your body that grows on a tree, from the earth, or that you have to kill to eat. Just thought I'd share and hope to motivate some people who are on the same path! Bring on the criticism lol

Good for you man. If it really makes you feel better than stick with it. I agree for the most part, except I go for some more "processed" stuff because of calorie needs.
You don't eat any other carbohydrate sources besides veg/fruits?

First question is Semantics. You know what I mean and if you can't grasp it and need to resort to kiddie talk, then go swim in the kiddie pool. No offense. And I didn't say processed supplement, I said processed "food".
Mostly wine, but yes, ok....2-3 drinks occasionally on friday or saturday here or there made with blended frozen fruit and a shot of vodka....you got me?

Yeah they do, I won't lie. I just have no cravings for them. I'll eat fruit in its place, or have a bite. I haven't had a bite yet though because I had no control, and after kicking the cravings, I think I'm at the point where I "can" have just 1 bite. But my body is very sensitive to everything now and I can feel the "suffering" that certain foods cause. Probably doesn't make sense to someone who doesn't get that, but I'm sure some people on here get it.

You sure this isn't a mental issue? (not trying to be critical here)

Not at all, I had 1 sip of a sugar free monster 3 weeks ago to "try" it and it gave me a small burning sensation in my stomach, almost like a mild case of food poisoning. I used to drink them regularly with no problem, but wasn't aware. Any food or substance that caused me any type of suffering afterward, no matter how small, had to be eliminated from my life, period. Also for the past month, I havent paid attention to bodyfat, what my abs look like, etc. The abs stay in. I don't count calories, I eat when hungry, based on what I need. There are no cravings, so none of the other stuff matters, so to answer your question, no, there are no mental issues. I dont think about food except for when I feel I "need" something. When I feel low in blood sugar, I have carbs....after a workout, I have protein...etc. I think about the work I am pursuing everyday and then go to bed.

No i really know where he is coming from. Certain foods actually make me physically feel worse. I eat mostly just natural foods, nothing processed. Let's say if I eat something salty, my knees/ankles swell and my face bloats. Mentally and physically I feel worse because I know how great you feel when you eat all natural.
It's really hard to hold on too though, your better off never bingeing or anything.

Yesterday I didn't get home until 10pm from a music lesson. I stuffed my face with orange, red, yellow bell peppers, and my brain was going because of all the stuff I have to do, so I had a glass of wine to calm me, took a melatonin and passed out.
Woke up at 5am this morning-- Miracle reds powder in water is my "energy drink". Had to be at the gym 6am for first client. Ran 20 mins, then had a green tea and some almonds at 7. Had a few waters in between. Trained 4 clients, and now am having salmon, broccoli and a sweet potato. In about 3-4 hours, I'll have the same maybe with a chicken breast instead of the salmon. A big salad (cucumbers, peppers of all colors, cilantro fresh garlic, avocado, tomato, chopped apples, balsamic vinegar, extra spicy ms dash) after that, and more if I want. Then before bed, Kefir, and maybe a glass of red wine if I am too racy, otherwise no wine. I don't pay attention to calories, or meals a day, etc. Just put good food in my body, and had to break the "hostage" situation of being tied to meals, calories, etc. I'm 175lbs and have no worries about bodyfat or anything of the sort because the cravings are gone. The cravings were the problem.

P.S. I didn't post this to brag or preach my way is the BEST way or whatever. I just know that some of you are on the path that I am currently living, and wanted to be there to explain how I did it if anyone gave 2 ****s and wanted some guidance. I'd have appreciated the guidance if I could have gotten it from somewhere I also am not a hostage to having to live this way forever. It's just where I am now, and if for some reason I feel it's not the way I want to live anymore, I'll change it, but right now it definitely feels right and healthy.

im confused on why you would cut out all processed type foods and then allow yourself to drink something so crappy as alcohol, and not consider that processed?
other than that though, congrats man, very hard thing to do

I don't drink alcohol to get ****ed up. I will either have 1-2 glasses of wine at night to SLEEP, or maybe a drink or 2 (i havent had 3 drinks since new years eve) when I'm out at a club, bar or restaurant with friends. That's it. And yes I do consider it a processed food which is why it's only done once in a blue moon, and I don't consider it part of my regular diet. Last week for example, I had 1 blended fruit smoothie with vodka that I made at home with a friend, and then saturday night at a party I had a "sip" of a friends drink. That's enough for me to feel it burning my system lol

yea for sure. If you really want too add to your healthy eating. I recommend fresh vegetables juicing with a good juicer. I would go with a Champion because you can grind up almost anything and you don't lose any of the nutrients. I have seen GREAT results drinking fresh vegetable juice.
My breakfast- 8-10oz fresh vegetable juice and 3 raw eggs xD
See, I'm a all natural eating but have been getting too many craving's lately.

Champion? That's great info thanks. I actually posted a thread a while back asking for a good juicer. Can you recommend an exact model that you like? Or are all of the champion models good? I don't want to buy one and find out that I don't like the way it works. I was looking at that Jack LaLane juicer but don't know enough about them to buy one and find I don't like it.

lolll, for me, it's FAIL if I have more than 3. That's when I'm more likely to eat crap. That's when I'll "call this chick up to see what she's doing", if you know what I mean. They like to say that cocaine, crack, and the like are the most expensive substances, but I'd safely say that alcohol is probably the most expensive, not because of the price of the actual alcohol itself, but the stupid crap you do, the money you spend, and the suffering that follows when you have a few too many and make incorrect choices

I'm on my way there. I just have to give up:
-Diet Soda
-Splenda
-Whey protein
-Sugar Free maple syrup
-Fat free cheese
I think aside from that stuff my meals are all home made and from Trader Joes (aka organic, hormone free, cage free)

what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? ...i think extremes in any direction make for hard living.. I find it much more easier and enjoyable living moderately in reference to the things you mentioned..

Yes I go out with friends all the time. And I eat a choice that fits my standards. If I can't find a choice that fits my standards I enjoy my friends company and eat beforehand, rather than putting something in my body that I don't want in there.

I find it easier not putting anything in my body that will cause me any anguish whatsoever. But if I "want" something in moderation, I'll have it. My point is that I haven't had any cravings. Should I have one, I will listen to my body, so that there is no mental anguish from ignoring a craving. I'm not fighting cravings, there are just no cravings at this point. Mind you, I am in a routine now. I leave for vegas next weekend, so we will see how things go...I will be changing things up a bit on vacations, but then return to my regular routine when I get home. Vacations, social events, parties etc are the place where I can drift from my usual routine, because my normal one is so focused that it doesn't matter what I do during those rare occasions

My first task was to stop my craving for gummy candies and unnecessary sweets or artificial sweeteners. I made the point to substitute fruit or frozen fruit in its place whenever I wanted some. I don't miss them anymore and love the fruit now, and feel no guilt eating as much fruit as I want, as it's putting no weight on me whatsoever. Next was the late night junk eating. When the cravings came, I went for a mandatory late night cardio session and then had 1 glass of homemade kefir and then went straight to bed. If I couldn't get to bed because my mind was racing, which would lead to cravings, I had 1-2 glasses of wine, and a melatonin pill. Knocked me out. I never have any cravings when I wake up in the morning, only at night. When going to bed in this manner, I noticed I had more energy in the morning, and didn't really need to eat anything until I was actually hungry, whereas before I was a hostage to "gotta eat by such and such a time". Right now I just eat when I'm hungry, with no every "so and so hours", though my doctor says at my activity level I should be eating at least every 4 hours regardless of whether or not I'm hungry or craving free, so I've been sticking to that pretty much.

Just an observation, you talk a lot about drinking a glass or two of wine if you can't sleep.
Also, are you in a bulking/cutting phase or are you maintaining? I think it's great you found this style of eating but is it ideal for someone who wants to gain/lose weight? Sounds like an ideal method when you're happy with what you have and just want to maintain.

Well, that is a very great commitment!
But if you look at this in another way, where are you getting your meat from? Unless you are getting from an 'organic' farm, the animals are raised and injected with all kinds of crap, so if you look into this matter deeper, we can't really eat a lot of garbage out there. Our milk has growth hormones, and who knows what's in the eggs, our chickens, cattle and pigs are injected with steroid. Fruits and Veggies are sprayed with all kinds of preservative garbage, just so they will last longer.
And 3 drinks a week will not hut at all, good luck with the new lifestyle. Personally I don't eat any sweets at all, so only junk "processed foods" is a can of diet cola a day, and of course the few drinks on the weekend, (vodka). But stay healthy, no need for processed garbage that the marketing is pushing on us. Good luck.

Yeah we get this big speech on how he "won't out any of that stuff in HIS BODY!" That's only in reference to a piece of candy or a slice of pizza though.
Its "ok" to drink alcohol and come home drunk as hell every now and then. People kill me man.

I am tempted to try your method of cutting EVERYTHING out. If I slip up just a bit, I can lose control and completley kill my diet.
Maybe I need to have a more stuctured and restricted diet like yours. It would be great to be able to eliminate my cravings.
