Dumbell Shoulder Press vs Barbell Military Press

Are dumbbell shoulder presses a good substitute for military presses with a barbell? Why or why not?

Yeah I think they are great, they work different muscles because there is a little bit different movement involved, I also think they work good for deff, whereas MP is more for mass.

Doubt it. If the weight is high enough with the dumbells, mass gains will probably be similar to seated BB gains. I've resorted to dumbells because I messed up my shoulder last i did a barbell seated press. I feel like my shoulders are gaining more than ever.

Yeah, weight is a huge factor, but the deff part im talking about is because the movement is different , you can do one arm at a time or both, or you can bring your ams together on the downward movement,,,,I messed up my shoulder doing seated presses also,,,and db are all I do now, but I like them better

As far as I'm concerned, it's like swapping flat bb bench press for flat db bench press, so yes it is the best substitute to do with dumbbells.

Military press, is standing and uses a barbell. No need to say standing military press, or barbell military press.

    Just thought I'd say that.
