    Glycogen Storage

Does anybody know how many carbs it takes to completely fill your body's glycogen stores? I read somewhere the number is 9-16 g of carbs per kg lean body mass. Does this sound right?

Depends (gosh I say that a lot). People have different glycogen storage capacities based on adaptation from long term training, what fiber type their muscles are etc etc....

Personally I don't count carbs. I count on my instinct.

I'd rather say approx 5 g/kg on average (read this from an ebook), but depends a lot on muscularity

counting vs you lean body mass is not a good indicator...ex at 5'6 you might have 40lb muscle when you are fully depleted, and 80 lb lean mass. plus 20 of glycogen/water.

also at 140 you are a long way from needing to worry about counting carbs

Lyle Mcdonald and Dan Duchaine mentioned 12-16g per kg for supercomposensation. For storage, maybe its somewhere half or slightly half of that figure.

I've seen the figure 100-200g in the liver to regulate blood sugar, and about 400g in skeletal muscle. However, this is extremely generic considering that most of us probably store more than the average because of our work load. On top of that, me personally, I'm bigger than the general population.
