B44 never made it big because they were just Jewish locals...so me and my teenybopperfriends weren't enough to get them on Much Music, let alone MTV...
Vietnamese pho + duck balls = life.
I think it would sound uber professional if you referred to yourself as "Doctor Sammy" with your patients.
Best Pop Up Video fact?????
Mine: In "Love Shack", when the blonde screams "Tim Roof! Rusted!", she's telling her bf she's preggers.
P.s. Not "Feats ofStrength"..."Strength of Feet"!!! Name that movieLast edited by jaim91; 05-15-2009 at 08:06 AM.

1. And the world as such was cheated....cheated.
2. Ditto. My only issue is that no one ever makes the food spicy enough--they spice it down no matter how much I tell them to make it hot enough to make me cry. Thankfully they always have the bottles of hot sauce so I can go to town to my hearts content, but I still feel cheated.
3. I'll take it under advisement. (Note *sometimes people can't remember or pronounce my last name very well...so they take the liberty of doing this anyway..... As you can imagine...the 8-12 year old scowling face with the arms crossed doesn't really hold a lot of weight here either)
4. I have to confess, there are so many random facts I've learned from Pop Up Video that it is hard to pick a favorite...but Tin Roof! Rusted! is a pretty good pick. Pretty much anything from their themed shows is a winner because they interconnect all the songs. I could watch Pop Up Video all day long and not be bored.
P.s. I have to admit....I had a brain freeze on this one and am suffering memory loss. But all I keep thinking about now is Happy Feet with dancing penguins and I can't get it out of my head because of the association of feet.....
One of my most prized possessions: The DVD collection of all of the seasons of Seinfeld on DVD.
Yesterday I told one of my friends that as he was saying that pretty much life would be awesome if someone did exactly the opposite of any decision he has made that maybe he should follow George Costanza's method of doing the opposite of his instincts.

I cried during that movie too (*realizes she is the biggest wuss EVER....ever.*)
It's from Robin Hood: Men in Tights, when the guys are shackled by their ankles. And Achoo says it would take a great feat of strength to escape the prinson. And then Cary Elwes (who wasn't in enough movies given how gorgeous he was) says..."feat of strength...feat of strength...STRENGTH OF FEET!"
P.S. Top 5 iconic songs in movies (put in order): Take my Breath Away (top gun), Little Green Bag/Stuck in the middle with you (Do you like "Little green bag"? I couldn't pick between the two...Reservoir Dogs), Time of my Life (dirty dancing), (don't you) forget about me (breakfast club)Contest Prep Log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=146273283&p=911273403&posted=1#post911273403

Leg day
The workout:
Smith Squats: 1x10 @155, 1x8@165, 1x6 @ 180
SLDL: 1x10 @ 135, 1x10 @ 155, 1x8@175
Leg Press: 1x6@300 (lame, and this was way hard), 1x10@ 270, 1x10 @ 290,
Lying Leg Curl: 1x10 @90, 1x9@95, 1x6@100
Leg Extensions: 1x10@175, 1x10 @ 190, 1x10 @ 200 (PR, the first that I can be sure of anyway)
Seated Leg Curls: 1x10@130, 1x10@140, 1x6@150
Standing Calf Raise: 10@ 180, 10@200, 10@220
Seated Calf (testing out a different machine from prev) 10@70,10@95, 10@120 (have to adjust weight next time)
Cardio: 35 min of LISS on the bike
Tunes: (In the spirit of the re-mix) Right Round by Flo Rida and Sad but True by Metallica
Eats:
1)eggs, grapefruit
2) whey, almonds
3) grilled sirloin, broccoli, almonds, oatmeal (PWO)
4) likely vietnamese food, probably pho
5) TBD--likely sludge, PB, blueberries
1. Happy Feet is a good movie. And FWIW, animated movies get to me more almost than actual human actor movies. I would never call you a wuss. I have a strong suspicion that any workout we would ever do together would result in me curled up in the fetal position in a corner, rocking back and forth. This is why I could never safely refer to you as a wuss, regardless to your response to music and movies.
2. Good lord, I really missed the boat on that one. It has been a while since I've seen Robin Hood men in Tights and I liked it so how I forgot this I have no clue!!! I'm getting old. Cary Elwes....highly under-utilized as an actor for both aesthetic and actual acting ability. But I'm a little partial to the aesthetic reasons....
P.S. I swear, if you ever use your powers for evil...I would be very very afraid. A large number of your surveys are almost like asking me to pick my favorite child...assuming I had children (still laboring under the idea I don't)...but for the sake of discussion
1. Take My Breath Away.....this song is pretty much synonymous with Top Gun as far as songs go....I mean, most people really probably don't think about Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins before they think of this song and recall the scene it came from.....Plus it stands alone well.
2. Time Of My Life---Almost up there with #1 in regards to having a flashback to the big dance number at the end. A good movie song can instantly bring you back to the scene in the movie it was featured...and this one is a winner for that reason. Even Jerry Orbach busts a move to this song in the movie...so really, I think that makes this a solid number 2 pick.
3. (Don't You) Forget about Me---I will admit...the top 3 are really pretty tough to differentiate when you think about it. I mean....if you reference the movie, this is also a classic scene from a brat-pack movie...and this is a GREAT movie, not just a niche film as it were. And I do like the song....it is just hard to put it above either of the other 2.
4 and 5. Stuck in the Middle with You--I am slightly more partial to Stuck in the Middle with You than Little Green Bag (which I still like but it lands to 5 by default), but I think this is more because I have memories related to this song from a party in college than because of the movie...even though after I reflect on the personal memory I then go to the movie scene in my head.....So unfortunately, this one lands in 4th because my own personal memories outweigh the movie association needed to classify the tune as iconic in this regard. It may not be fair...but life is not fair.No excuses, just performance...

Right. YOU'RE going to be the one curled up in the fetal position

I'm never going to be allowed into Canada for a workout am I....
No fair!
I think you're being a bit silly. I think, no...I KNOW... your average ab workout would absolutely destroy me. Please...Garhammer raises? I'll be happy to get 10 hanging leg raises at this point....
My metabolism needs all the help it can get at this point....I have no choice but to try to push the weight as best I can. Patience is not one of my better virtues, and now it is definitely starting to wear a little. Maybe the green tea is better than after all.....
All aboard the pain train...Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum! Mandelbaum!
While it may not have been intended for the Antagonism in ATS to antagonize my mind, a huge part of why the leg extensions are seeing big numbers is because they come after my nemesis exercise...the lying leg curl. Without fail....these things are tough every week. This usually results in me getting angry...so I take it out on the leg extensions....
The patience with results thing is the thing I struggle with. It is a daily battle. No excuses, just performance...

Hey sammy bo bammy. Just popping in here to see how you're doing.. Awesomely, of course.
I totally agree about Cary. Major hotness. Did you ever see The Crush? With him and Alicia Silverstone? I think it was her first movie.. but I think that's the only serious movie I've ever seen him in - that he had a major role (if you don't count The Princess Bride as 'serious').
Hope you have a great weekend girlie. Kill those shoulders today!"If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut." - Albert Einstein

Dirt off your shoulder Day
Workout:
Military Press on the Smith: 1x10@65, 1x10@80, 1x6@90
DB Shrug: 1x10@70s, 1x10@75s, 1x10@80s
DB Side Lateral: 1x10@15s, 1x8@15s, 1x10@15s
Reverse Pec Dec: 1x10@90,1x10@100,1x6 @110
1 arm Cable lateral: 1x10@10, 1x6@15, 1x10@10
Bent Over DB lateral: 3x10@12s
Decline crunches, leg raises, Back extensions, torso twists x 3 sets
Cardio: 35 minutes LISS on the Stepmill (to you people who do your HIIT on this thing, much respect....I almost talked myself out of this given leg day yesterday, but I figured that with the rest day tomorrrow I didn't need to save the wheels for much...good lord I was tired after 4 fricken minutes on this thing)
Tune: Welcome to the Jungle--GnR
Eats:
1:eggs, grapefruit
2: sludge with almond butter and blueberries
3: PWO-grilled sirloin, broccoli, oatmeal, almonds
4: TBE-turkey, asparagus, almonds
5: whey, almonds--TBE
It was awesome! Walked through Little Italy, weather was phenomenal, great Vietnamese food even without rice or noodles, followed up with some great coffee while I watched people eat cannoli and gelato (this was enjoyed greatly even if it was vicarious)
And to follow that up....why do drive up ATMs have braile on the keypad?
It has been a very decent day! Hope you had a good one!
Did you see Kiss the Girls with Cary, Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd? That qualifies as serious....
I don't think I saw the Crush...if I did it is out of range of my memory.
Hope you are having a good Saturday and that you got some well deserved rest after the crazy day you had this week.
I swear...if you guys keep this up my ego is going to get inflated.. You guys are too much!
I don't really resemble in appearance anything that could put up the numbers I have been putting up....so I think the Scivation boys are pretty safe. So until I get myself leaned down, I'll be continuing in stealth mode for the time being. That said, I'm kinda excited to see what I'm dealing with lean mass wise... I think there's some good stuff ahead.Last edited by sammykapp; 05-16-2009 at 04:01 PM.

Have you had your body fat tested recently?
Do you have access to a DEXA at a uni/hospital near you? That'd totally be awesome in terms of seeing how much lean mass you have...

I managed to survive without falling off. My legs were very tired after. But I see why it has attracted an almost religious following.
1. We have one that we send patients to for Bone density measurements. I'll do some looking into it...because I got to say...I'm definitely curious, and curiousity often gets the better of me almost every time. Even with the calipers, given their margin of error...the amount of lean mass given with the calculations is an interesting number that I have no idea what to do with. I do think it would be interesting to get an accurate reading, for sh*ts and giggles if for no other reason, but also because it might help clarify the future goals a little. Granted...there is quite a ways to go regardless of what it is accurately or otherwise, but curiousity usually always kicks in for me...I have an inquiring mind, and not a lot of patience....
P.s. There is no denying it is a horrible cliche. I DON'T DENY IT AT ALL!!!! But I put up some military press numbers I was ok with while it was on...and I'm a little superstitious...so if the cliche fits....I will wear it and wear it well.... If I happened to get a PR while Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies was on I would listen to that on repeat too. But I'll keep that in mind for the next workout...can't have you scampering off the journal.... For the record...Welcome to the Jungle was number 1 on Vh1's top 100 Metal Songs of All time.....No excuses, just performance...

1. Touche.
2. While I was being a little facetious (also the only word in the English language to use all the vowels in their alphabetical order--fun fact for you), you are most certainly correct that I would never own up to listening to da sugarplum fairies....even if I was caught, I would make up an excuse that would leave people too dizzy to recall what I was trying to get out of.
3. Baby steps....baby steps-which are kind of what I take when I wear heels, think of it as seeing a baby deer wobbling around when it takes its first steps, except less adorable....so we may need to reconsider that one...

Checked my PMs.
First of all, you shall hence forth and forthwith address me: Her Royal Hawtness, The Duchess (yes, i'm stealing that), or Weight Watcher (get it? )
Secondly, usually, when clients send me their progress pics, they're clothed. I understand this was your first time, so I'll let it slide. But next time...err...a bikini will suffice.
Lastly, don't threaten me. The reason I gave you my home phone was so that you could get in touch with me if anything happened. NOT so that I could receive calls like the one last night:
Drunk Douche: Uhh....Hi there...I'm...a....err...looking for a good time?
Weight Watcher: Pardon?
DD: Uh...I found your number...err...uh...on a wall. On a stall...next to a limerick about a chick from Nantucket.

Got it.....Really now....who is better than you? You're the best.
HRH, TD, WW (whichever moniker you happen to seek out first):
1. So I took your repeated demands for teh nudez literally..... please...you act like you weren't asking for them....repeatedly..... I can only play hard to get for so long...
2. That is NOT how I remember the phone call with you going....
And for the record....I wasn't drunk...just buzzed.....
Here is actually how the convo went:
ME (you'll note I've replaced myself with me...as opposed to Drunk Douche): Uh, Hi...Jamie?
HRH/TD/WW: Do you have any idea what time you are calling me at? It is 4 F^*$*&ing AM Sammy!!!
ME: Well...I'm uber sorry to bother you...but..I just wanted to say I've taken the liberty of removing your phone number from about 8 billboards associated with "for a good time call..." I just figured it was the courteous thing to do, I mean...It took me several hours to climb up to spray paint over them. I actually got arrested by the cops for vandalism....I'm just looking out for ya and all, but this is my only phone call from jail........
HRH/TD/WW: I'm blocking you on the caller ID!!! (Slams phone down on receiver).....
You're welcome by the way........No excuses, just performance...

Morning sammy!
Hope your weekend is going great! Enjoy your rest day today - especially after that killer shoulder workout.
Yes, I have seen kiss the girls - totally forgot he was in that one - he had a southern accent, didn't he in that movie??
Princess Bride was on bravo last night.
Oh, and re: the stepmill - is that the thing that looks like stairs and it just revolves around? Or is that thing you stand on the platform and just move your feet up and down? Cuz if it's the revolving stairs - those things scare me. If you stop moving, does it keep going?? Or does it stop too? I have a big enough paranoia of falling down regular stairs, I don't need to do it on a piece of cardio equipment...
But I have been curious to try them..."If A is a success in life, then A equals x plus y plus z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut." - Albert Einstein
