    Anyone stick their belly out when raw benching and press to the belly?

    Does anyone stick their bellies out when raw benching and press to the belly like a shirted lifter does to decrease the range of motion? This is assuming all other powerlifter form is in place for raw benching.

    Here is how Scot Mendelson did his 715.

    It looks like he pressed to his chest. Since this is the world record does this look like the optimal place to raw bench press?

    I lift raw in the USAPL, by rule I can't go lower than the xiphoid process. So no belly benching for me

    Sebastian burns is a big supporter of belly benching raw, only he does it because it closely resembles the groove of his shirted benching.

    If your a raw bencher though, I'd go with whatever you are stronger with. I'm actually stronger going lower on my belly, then I am hitting higher near my xiphoid. But I have a bigger belly also.

    You should check with the rules of your federation before training one way. Alot of federations don't allow the bar to go that low

    I bench press across my chest. Also, bench pressing across the belly is illegal in all major federations!

    Thats 4 off the top of my head. And 3 of those 4 have quite a few meets each year.

    Think there is a fine line there. I dont bench to me belly as far as the vicinity of my belly button but the lower pec top of the belly area.

    Depending on the angle it could look like im going to my belly but id say it's where the pec belly meet.
