Big Shoulder (a la Dwight Howard) - HOW?

Here are some pictures of Dwight Howard, an NBA player for the Orlando Magic.

Shoulder is one of those things that I desire greatly, even more than a sixpack. But how? Despite reading all the various threads on shoulders and so on, at this point I need someone to hold my hand and GIVE ME a shoulder workout and schedule. I do have relatively broad shoulders and traps, I just don't have that massive ball.

In addition to overhead pressing, make sure to incorporate high rep lateral raises, and some rear delt work. Add more volume as you progress. For many, form > weight used regarding lateral raises.

The area you're looking to develop is called the deltoid. It is split into the parts which basically entail the front middle and rear delts. To target these you should use - in addition to dumbell and barbell presses -

    Side dumbell raises
    Front dumbell / barbell raises
    Reverse dumbell / machine flyes

I find with these exercises if you can stay seated or stationary then all the better.

I would love to know what all professional athletes bench and lift in general. I would think that the vast majority would be able to throw around 315 for at least a few easy reps.

Dwight Howard is also an exceptionally conditioned athlete with very low bodyfat. Muscle definition is bound to look more impressive including the deltoids.

What TAABrick said x2. (Guess I'm in "parrot mode" now). Keep to good form on all pressing and lateral/bent lateral exercises, think progression, and have patience; you'll grow.
