BLUNT \ The Average Comeback
The Dogg is dead. No more being a gangsta. 2009 is shaping up to be big milestone year of my life. Without going into so many details... for the past couples months I've begun working at improving a lot of areas of my life in an effort to finally realize my true potential as a person rather then just coasting along not giving a ****. Simply put, I'm finally graduating from that early twenties care-free party-all-the-time mode, and moving on to the next chapter in life of actually accomplishing something. I have some career-changing events planned for later on this year, and for the first time in my life I'm embracing the challenge of moving forward...
But enough with all the personal **** because that's not why you're here. Let's talk training! The original journal was getting long and stale. I wanted a fresh start kind of as a symbol for being reborn with a new sense of motivation (dedicated to our own Superbeast who's gonna win his comp next week..Get Bent, Turco. ). For the past month of tax season I've been doing a bunch of research and planning, tweaking things here and there while coming up with a good plan for both diet and training that I feel will really benefit me as well as being easy to stick with to make big gains over the summer.
I liked how my split was going previously, so I will keep the same basic structure with some slight changes here and there:
M- back/chest (heavy)
T- cardio
W- shoulders/arms (cardio)
T- legs
F- traps/forearms/calves, back/chest (light)
S- cardio
S- cardio
Cardio consists of a brisk low-intensity walk. I didn't mention this in the old journal but for the past few weeks I've started doing that. I found a good route along a local road that going to the end and back is 45 minutes. It's been great because I don't find it boring being outside (plus it's not like a treadmill because once you start you can't just hit the stop button if you're feeling lazy) so I know I will actually stick with it. Depending on how I feel I may ocassionaly do a HIIT session on Saturdays.
Diet will be a low carb approach, approx 50-70g carbs on Monday-Friday workout days. Saturday and Sunday I'll look to take in a lot of carbs as a carbup. Trying to keep a strict limit of 1-2 cheat meal limit on the weekends, which will usually be Friday and/or Saturday nights. I still gotta live, right? I don't usually go big on the supps, but I will be bringing back in creatine mono as well as giving BCAAs a shot in larger doses. I have a whole write-up on my workout-day diet along with all vitamins/supps being taken if anyone wants me to post.
quick-pic from the end of March:
****ty cell-phone camera productions shows I still have some work to do, but overall I feel good about where I presently sit. Got rid of all the spare crap that was put on over Christmas. Weighing around mid 190's. It's funny looking back on some old pics over the years, I've generally hovered around the same weight but now I appear to be a lot more muscular. So I must be headed in the right direction. I'm not looking to cut down hard to enter a contest or anything like that, but I do know that the goal I'm looking to achieve is well within in range. This is the best I've ever felt at accomplishing what I've set out to do.
Tax season isn't quite over. I spent the past week pulling in 80+ hours and eating like ****, so I'm dieing to get back in the gym. It all starts tomorrow. Tune in, because it's GAME TIME NOW! Blunt is ready to get down to f ucking business!

Good stuff, Blunt-o. And lol @ the new name.
It's great to hear things are going well for you, and you're making an effort to better yourself in all areas of your life. You certainly have the dedication. I'm not going to type a whole sermon here, but you should know that the power to do whatever you wish to do is inside you. You just gotta reach in and pull it out, and it sounds like that's what you're doing now.
Good luck with everything. I know you'll do well.

Thanks guys. LOL @ chaz, you can still call me whatever you want, lover. That's why I kept the "D" in there. (truth be told "Blunt" was already taken so I went for the next option).
Can't say I've "quit" having a good time completely, just keeping it much in check and not feeling like it HAS to be an every weekend activity. I've only been drunk, as in DRUNK, once or twice this year, and honestly I don't miss getting trashed all the time. Guess I just grew out of it. Once in awhile is still okay though, especially with summer around the corner. Haven't quit my favorite supp for good either, Mass, but I've definitely curtailed the amount of use on that front as well. Completely cut myself off during the week, and not as much on the weekend either. Basically turning smoking into a social activity similar to hitting up a happy hour on occasion with my buddies. Shocking to hear, I know, but blazing all the time was really making my already procrasinative-nature a whole lot worse. No wai! lol

LOL..
Nooooooooo... not a chance at that anytime soon. Truth is though, being with my present girlfriend has been a big impact on me. Guess when you're with someone who is more grounded, has a better job, owns a house and so forth, it sets a positive example. She's one hell of a great support system too and I owe a lot to her for being by my side through everything. And she goes to the gym with me each day too so that's definitely a plus.
