Huge spending is the problem but in reality, they didn't cut anything except taxes, which they made up for by borrowing. The defense budget is ridiculous, medicare needs an overhaul, and social security has become a place for pet projects.

All of this went unchecked not because of the undying faith of government but the false impression from "conservatives" that they actually were cutting expenses. Nobody wanted to talk about the mounting debt because we were told it was necessary for the economy. In hindsight, it was the elephant in the room that just got bigger and bigger. Now we're in the corner, squeezed in tight from the tired rhetoric and rampant corruption, from unnecessary wars to the many variants of the bridges to nowhere.

You sound rather hypocritical supporting the Democrats all the while lambasting mounting debt and increasing government, but what more would I expect from you?

Most of the deficit is the result of Govt's assistance to fight the financial fiasco, which happened under and was encouraged by unchecked Conservative/Capitalist ideals. Everyone knows it by now.

Don't try to paint it was Dem's fault.

If anything, Bush inherited surplus and left largest deficit in history.

LOL @ the Democrats. What a disaster Obama is. All they had to do was run a steady administration and let things work themselves out and they would have been hailed as saviors.

Instead they went and put us another 800 billion into debt and increased the deficit more then any other president has.

What a failure.

help me understand. Bush inherited a small surplus after Clinton raped social security? Does Barney Frank hold no blame? Was his fingerprints not all over the financial fiasco? (Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac). must be all Bush`s fault huh?
