training advice wanted - legal issue.

Hi... I'm a security guard and i'd like to train Muay Thai or MMA to help increase my endurance, accuracy and speed during work, should i have to deal with an incident solo.

It would be great if I could just go to a trainer... but the problem is if I go to court for a incident at work... being a trained fighter looks really bad. I know the law and abide by it. I'm not a guard who beats on people for enjoyment.

SO my question is: Is there anyway I can train myself? How do I come across programs and training techniques?

Real replies appreciated.

well, a good trainer is always needed, but until you reach blackbelt status, or turn professional, it cant be legally used against you. If anything it looks good as a security guard to have training and not just be a thug. If an issue were brought up you could always just say that your discipline in your art only allowed you to control the situation and keep it going even further

but i would recomend something like self defense courses and kung fu deals alot with disarming ect. But muay thai is great

pepper spray..

unless the dude is on some sort of drug that stuff will drop him quickly. and safely... your employer should hook you up with some..

if you absolutely feel you need to train muay thai is good for striking and causing damage, but there are some place that deal exclusively with disarming weapons and stuff that definitely wouldnt be held against you
