Wow...just watched some of Royce Gracie's first fights..

and I'm not gonna say that Royce's BJJ is overrated or some thing like that..all i want to say is that im repulsed by his douchebagerry

and unsportsmanship...
why in the blue hell does he have to keep arm-barring and choking people after they tapped like hundred of times...
i respect all Gracie's but him...if u want to prove that your a great fighter being a legit douche bag as he is doesnt help much...
Im saying that because some of us who do BJJ actually meet those kinda people themselves when they roll and its not fun...so to me it doesnt matter if its Royce or some other dude...i have no respect for people like that...

I was wondering the same too. Maybe he wanted to show the world he can make the biggest, baddest guy tap for their life and to prove BJJ was legit.

UFC 1 Shammy tapped to Royce but the ref didn't see it so Royce let go. After that Royce made a point to hold submissions long to...

a. Make sure the ref saw the tap
b. To make them look like b*tches
c. Because he's alpha like that

I'd do the same thing in a BJJ tourney
You hold the sub until the ref ends the match. I've seen numerous times where the ref didn't see it...the guy lets the sub go, and they keep fighting

his bjj wasnt overated....its just that , that was so long ago...jiujitsu as a WHOLE has evolved so much from the early ufc days. the more people that get into the sport , the harder it gets. black belts from the early nineties could not hang with the likes of black belts today like marcelo, or jacare , or lovato ie whatever

when did this happen?? any proof??

it happened once with shamrock but he automatically admitted he tapped...

he did do it until the ref broke it up though... and it looked longer because the refs didnt always catch it that quickly..
