    Barbell Curls vs. Dumbbell Curls

I have been doing barbell curls, and today decided to switch and do alternating dumbbell curls. I thought that using each arm individually might be better for isolating the biceps in each arm. Do both of these exercises basically serve the same function? Would my biceps grow just as much with either one, or is one better than the other? If I do both, would that be overkill? I did notice that I felt it in my forearms as well as my biceps when I did the alternating barbell curls. Also, are alternating barbell curls more beneficial that doing barbell curls with both arms at the same time?

I know these are a lot of questions, but I hope you members out there can provide some good feedback. Thanks.

    1. Yes.
    2. Maybe but I fell it better in barbell. Less stabalizer more bicep
    3. Probably but you could.
    4. They are worked better as stabalizers when using dumbells. Try hammer curls... or even cross body hammer curls. Forearms=wow
    5. usually DB's are used for symmetery and isolating your weaker side and BB's are used for size.
    Hope that helps.
