Coconut Oil

I could not find a thread on coconut oil so I decided to post a thread here

Coconut oil helps reduce body fat for many
I read that it revs up your metabolism and really fills you up
* BF loss is most likely due to revved up metabolism and how much the oil fills you up along with curbing your sweet tooth for sweets+carbs

I was wondering if anyone has tried it and what were your results
Currently I am on a low carb diet and just bought some coconut oil... I didn't buy the coconut oil just to aid in my fat loss but because of all the other benefits it offers
(The best coconut oil to buy is organic virgin and unrefined)

Coconut Oil helps fight against Candida I am not going to go into detail what exactly it is but it's an overgrowth of yeast present in he mucous membranes of the mouth, intestinal tract, and vagina.
People with candida will most likely suffer from sympotms (after taking the VCO) such as headaches and stomach aches this is due to the VCO killing off the Candida so in that situation you would start off with as much VCO as you can handle

Coconut oil+Candida
http://www.coconutdiet.com/candida.htm
http://www.coconut-connections.com/candida.htm

you can eat coconut oil by the spoonfull, cook foods in it, add it in coffee SF hot coco or even tea

Hope this was interesting for people who did not know about this

Feel free to leave comments and thoughts

Sounds like some miracle oil! I can't say that I believe all of those benefits to be true...
It kills viruses like herpes and AIDS? Come on...
It helps relieve symptoms of hundreds of illnesses? Sure...
Reduces epileptic seizures? ...Really?

If coconut oil were so good I'm sure it would be a more popular topic on these forums.

Coconut oil was a huge fad a few years back also until it was debunked just like the "miracle" effects of acai berry.

What was debunked? Maybe its not the current fad but that doesn't discredit all the benefits to it.

However, I do I think its silly to eat coconut with a spoon. Use it as cooking oil (in place of other oils you would use)

Aircraft fuel

During February 2008, a mixture of coconut oil and babassu oil was used to partially power one engine of a Boeing 747, in a biofuel trial sponsored by Virgin Atlantic.

Engine lubricant

Coconut oil has been tested for use as an engine lubricant; the company producing the oil claims the oil reduces fuel consumption, smoke emissions and allows the engine to run at a cooler temperature.

I use it instead of butter (well.. Smart Balance) where I can.

The saturated fats are the same MCTs that are in Muscle Milk. If you believe Lean Lipids works than so would Coconut Oil.

I don't mind the coconut taste, but when used as the main flavoring (I baked barley and used coconut oil) it just ends up too strong. Great in stir fries.

A diet high in fat and low in carbs does help reduce epileptic seizures
And no one should knock it until they actually try it

I took 2 teaspoons last night and it gave me a ridiculous amount of energy and could not sleep until 2 am

anyway I made this thread so people could read it and maybe use it to their benefit not to be bashed

So what you're saying is that coconut oil doesn't reduce seizures, a healthy diet does. Also, it seems like the coconut oil reduced the amount of sleep you got last night, therefore it was detrimental to your overall health. And third, I'm not bashing coconut oil, I'm just pointing out that some of the 'benefits' you listed are very broad and a bit over the top...

All I know is that I read it does help against seizures ( Not saying it is a fact)
and I know for a fact that a diet high in fats and low in carbs do help reduce epileptic seizures because I have researched and read articles pertaining to that subject

And the coconut oil gave me energy NATURALLY... I will just not take it so late

it is natural so I do not know how it could be detrimental to anyones overall health I'm sure it is A LOT better than the energy supplements that people take on this website to give them energy for their workouts

I actually take coconut oil and you are absolutely right about a diet high in fat and low in carb helps children who suffer from seizures. Also, a lot of people on keto diets implement coconut oil in their diet. I cook my eggs with coconut oil and I try to consume 3 table spoons a day. It does give one energy as well (at least for me it has)l. The only way to discover the benefits is for one to try it themselves. .

I heard coconut oil cures all cancers, the common cold, increases your IQ by 50 points, and also decreases flatulence by 50%!

C'mon....do you really believe one oil can do all that? Man, I need to get int he supplement/health business. People will believe anything!

Things I think it does do: fill you up because its fat. it will digest slower. Contains healthy vitamins and minerals that lots of other fruits/veggies do. Also it tastes good. om nom nom. I dont think its a cure for AIDS, nor will it help you loose weight unless you are in a caloric deficit.

coconut oil does help people regulate their thyroid which can aid in weight loss. it also is good for your skin, hair, etc

coconut water is also used as IV's in 3rd world countries

there are lots of health benefits from the coconut, but i agree a few of those posted by the OP are a bit broad and far reaching...

I can not stand some of the people on these boards
It's like a war zone and for some reason people feel the need to put others down and imply rude things.. That is sick

I copied all the benefits from a website not saying you have to believe everything thing enlisted in the benefits

But I came across something that has helped others and MAY help you
But if someone can take something positive from this and the VCO does help that person then I'm glad
All I wanted was to share some information

Some of the comments are unwarranted in my opinion, but misunderstandings can happen over the Internet.

I wouldn't personally take as gospel every single supposed benefit of coconut oil but I think that goes without saying for most other people too. The truth is that not even scientists know everything about anything. However, it's certainly made me think and brought coconut oil to my attention. It's something I'm prepared to look into as I've never had a diet which has incorporated it before. Thanks

Well as I say in most thread with this argument, take the good, leave the bad... but I have tried it on my head and it makes them shiny and healthy.

Good as substitute in frying or for butter.

Hehe that's funny.

I agree with the OP there's many benefits. It's great for acne. Also great for your teeth it prevents tooth decay.

for the weight loss part I have read it's only about 1 lb per month.

The Dandruff and STD protection are when used TOPICALLY (on your skin). I'd also use Neem Oil, with Coconut as the carrier oil.

As far as eating it, those benefits are true...(look up MONOLAURIN/LAURIC ACID)

BUT you'd have to eat coconuts to the point you'd get sick of it.

I can't remember who, but there was a doctor who made a supplement that contained 10x the Monolaurin in only one serving.

Welcome to the forums! Seriously though, there is a good amount of argument on the forums as everyone has there own opinion, which, to them is always correct. People who have been around awhile see the same types of threads and jump all over the people.

My suggestion to you is to never post in the misc...lol.
