im about to get the Iron Woody Vice Gripper with the knurled handles. It goes up to 360lbs, now lets say you can shrug, deadlift 405 with no straps. that is not comparison to gripping 360lbs in your hand even though you can hold 405 with your hands around the bar. Then again your using 2 hands instead of one.

The DL or Shrug would be a "support grip" or "hold" the Vice gripper will train your "crush" grip. The two do not really compare, but you should see some carry over from the vice to your supporting grip.
