Is running 6 miles a day bad?

I have been running 4 miles a day for about 3 weeks(Sunday is my day off). I recently stepped it up to 6 miles a day, and my left knee is beginning to hurt. Am I destroying my joints or is this pain normal?

If you are having knee problems, you upped the mileage too much too quick. You add miles you run up slowly. You dont add two fricken miles onto your runs that quick...

It's normal I had the same thing when I took up track a couple years ago. It eventually just went away.

it's not good for your body

I used to run ten miles a day, 6 days a week, **** killed me, I did it for endurance though

If you're doing it for cutting or something for maintenance, then cut your miles in half or your body will be doing more damage than good, pain in your muscles is good, but when it's your joints, it's time to lighten up on your workout

    Thanks Guys

I appreciate the advice. I'm not doing it to get cut up. I just want to build up my endurance. I'm enlisting in the Air Force and I want to excell in Basic. However I don't want to injure myself before I get there so I'll take it easier. Thanks

try foam rolling for your quads/hamstrings and get a knee support just in case but don't rely entirely on it.

6 miles everyday might be tough if your not used to it and heavier.

Yet olympic marathon runners run a marathon+ every single day and are healthy.

I wasn't really concerned with muscle at the time, so I was even lifitng. Sad, sad thing. I had decent muscle mass and was lean too. I got down to 189, and I looked pretty good. I don't think I'd do that 9 miles a day knowing what I know now, but it was a hell of a cardio workout and made me feel comletely healthier everyday.

that is incorrect, most will run much less then that each week with a long run(20-22) on saturday. edit: that chinese trainer that you linked to is certainly not the average trainer(his women and mens team quit)

With running you need to have days off just like BBing. It's also a good idea to miss running every 4 weeks and have a weeek of low impact cardio
