Wiring question (splicing headphone wires )

I'm trying to splice headphone wires so I can hook up a headphone jack to a speaker (or 2)

I have 2 headphones...one with 3 wires inside(red, green, copper), and one with 2 wires inside(copper, green). There is also this white thread too....

I figured the 2 wire headphone would be easier to wire up...and well I wired it with green to pos, green to neg, and neither worked...ugh any ideas?

It shouldnt matter which wire goes to positive or negative, the polarity may be off but sound will still come out. Is your speaker powered? Otherwise a headphone jack cant drive a full size speaker.

lol it's a pioneer speaker for a car

I have connected this speaker to my computer though, using a different type of jack though. The wires in that jack were bigger.

I DO have thicker wire laying around...

Thicker wire doesnt increase the signal. A headphone jack will only output a fraction of a watt. You have have go to headphone jack -> amplifier -> speaker

Yeah, thanks. Not sure this plan is gonna work though but for the lulz I'll give err a shot ha

SupaDude, I'm doing all of this through my computer right now. I have a little sub box, which accepts 2 speakers, and the volume control. the volume control has a headphone jack. That's not enough power to run the speaker? I know I was able to run the pioneer speaker through a computer speaker jack directly into the box...

Not from the headphone jack. The sub is probably your amp. If you take an output from the sub then it should power the speaker, but im not really sure what you are doing now.

Yeah I have powered the speaker through the box. That's easy to do, straight wiring.

I thought it would work the same way with a headphone jack into the volume control.

All I'm doing is testing right now...b/c I figured if I could plug in the headphone jack to my comp, and the speaker worked, then maybe itd work on my mp3 player

If the headphone jack output enough wattage to power a full size speaker it would blow your headphone speakers out.
