    What should be higher?

Should your bench press or power clean be stronger? im just curious. im guessing your power clean should be but at football im thinking half and half is switched. Some of us have a stronger power clean and some have a stronge rbench.

The bench press would only be higher because people have no idea how to do a power clean properly. Just look at the muscles involved and it should be obvious.

In the book "Practical Programming for Strength Training," authors Mark Ripptoe, CSCS, and Lon Kilgore, PhD in Kinesiology, laid out a table of 1RM performance standards that can be expected of an athlete of various levels of training. In the table, a higher bench press 1RM is required for an advanced level than the 1RM required for a power clean for every weight class, meaning the authors judgment is that the bench press 1RM should be higher for most people.

it depends what you train for the most...

POWER cleans will likely be lower...but a full clean would be fairly easy to get higher than your bench...

a few years ago when I was going more explosive lifting my full clean 1rm was 215, bench was 205, and I could do power cleans for maybe 3X185(maybe 200 lbs for a 1rm)...

But the learning curve for oly lifts is tough and a lot of people do not have great form.

This is correct. Big difference between power clean and squat clean

Usually around 10-15% more on a squat clean good technique.

I'm assuming you're playing highschool football? Most high school athlete's power/hang cleans will be higher until they learn how to strength train harder. That was the case and experience for me, at least. My bench didn't surpass my hang clean until after senior year of football before graduation. I did have a pretty beastly clean back in the day though of about 280 if I remember correctly..Didn't quite hit 300
