Fell of the wagon
Hi Everyone.
Its been a while since I have posted here. This is because I have not been training like I should. The desire to train is not as strong as it was before. It has actually almost completely left me. And it is troubling me.
Im not making excuses here. What I am looking for is some advice. Has anyone experienced this themselves? If so what did you do about it?
I have been training but not as much as I should. (2-3 days per week if that much.)
In the meantime I am going to the doctor to check my testoserone levels. When I was training regularly, it would look forward to it, and feel great when doing it. Now, it is much different. I want to get out of this. I have worked so hard to get into shape and now I am letting it go down the toilet. There are a lot of experinced people here and I could really use some advice. Please help. Thanks.

Maybe your getting bored with your routine/training?
Switch things up a bit.. Maybe Powerlift if it sounds
fun. Try some new exercises..drop the bench do
dips, db flys. Just mix it up.

You need to ask yourself, why did I start lifting in the first place? Did you do it to get healthy? Did you do it because you wanted to compete on stage? Did you do it to get more action? Did you do it because your dad said you were scum and would never amount to anything, and you were determined to prove him wrong? Did you do it because you were the fat kid that everybody picked on, and you wanted to get strong and beat your tormenters to a pulp?
Until you can identify WHY you think you need to keep training, it's pretty much a waste of your time. We can't tell you why you need to get back in the gym. Only you can do that.
What is YOUR motivation?

Sounds like you didn't want it bad enough. Nothing is easy, try again this time put your heart in it, if you fail, NO Whining, no one is going to come push that weight for you, that onus is on you.
Good Luck!

for many of us, we don't need reasons.....it is a lifestyle we choose and love....
if you don't truly love it, reasons may not be enough motivation.

GET STRONG
Electron, There have been many times we don't feel like going to the gym. It's just so much easier to sit there like a load. Those are the times you simple get up and go to the gym. Many of my most satisfying workouts have been on these days. I hate cardio but I'm 49 and over weight so I push cardio hard every day. I love to lift so I do cardio first then reward myself with lifting. Like the other have said you may just need to mix it up to revitalize things. Like the Nike commercials say JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!

I started working out because I was tired of being out of shape and uncomfortable. Working out changed my body and I was very proud of it. The health benefits was another motavator. Going to the doctor for a blood test and hearing the incredible results was great. I agree, this is an excellent question.

John I respectfully disagree, for many here they hate the action but love the effects. I DO love it but know alot of guys in GREAT shape and disciplined by what got them in the gym not for the love of being there and eating healthy.

Maybe you should just take a break for a week or two. Don't work out at all instead of going thru the motions 2-3 times a week. Maybe the desire will come back, if it doesn't think about what motivated you initially. Good Luck

The show goes on
get back in and build good habits, waiting for motivation is a lost cause IMO.
motivation comes and goes, good habits will keep you at it.

Stuck in the 80's.
I recently experienced the same. I fell off due to the lack of inspiration my wife had on my life. I had to put her in the hospital and she fell into a coma a month ago. This week is the first week I am back into it and realized my wife would be so pissed off if she realized I quit because of this set back.
Set backs come in many forms, realize what your overall goal is and like mentioned before, it's a lifestyle change. We do it because we like it.

You have to know what you want, and it has to mean something to you. Nobody and nothing else matter. Otherwise, it's all bull****.
My goals-
Today, I want to better then I was yesterday. Tomorrow, I want to be better then I am today.
