Power cage + treadmill = all you need

Honestly, the only reason I'm going to the gym and not working out at home is because it's free with my tuition. Once school is over I'm buying a power cage, 400lbs worth of weights, and maybe some dumbells. Why pay for gym membership? Squats+Deads+Bench+Shoulder Press = workout
It's all useless smith machine exercises like the one that strengthens your inner vagina muscles.

You need everything a decent gym has.

You never see any decent looking people on stage who just do bb rows for back and bis, or who only do squats for quads and hams.

You need direct work on EVERYTHING to get max results.

You can do isolation with free-weights though...

There are a few machines I'd like. Tricep pushdowns, curl machine, t-bar row, leg press, and of course calf machines would be good but you can get by alright without them.

You should also buy a sledgehammer and a tractor tire, probably like 400lbs+, maybe 600lbs.

power cage is what like 500 bucks? i have no idea just a guess. treadmill = 1000 bucks
400 dollars worht of plates (which you will outgrow quickly IMO ) plus you saif you wanted dumbbells lets say you spend 200 there.

thats like 2100 bucks estimate give or take < my gym membership is 20 bucks a month with all the above gear and more. so for me all of that would be equal to like 8.75 years before it paid for itself.

dont get me wrong you could be very productive with that but you probly arent gonna get your moneys worth when you could go to the gym. maybe i also have a really cheap gym membership also.

I think you can hit everything without all the machines at the gym. Granted, you'll have to experiment a little, but you can get around it.

I don't see how you can replace things like ham curls, leg press, leg extension, calve work, and then ofcourse all dumbell work.

I could never lift like that.

That's basically why I have never gotten a full gym at home. At home I have 350 pounds of weights and two benches. I can get a pretty awesome workout at home if I really wanted to, I just don't like changing the weights up. No Olympic weights for me...

He did say "maybe" to dumbbells.

And I agree, it's not desirable, but I also think you could get big like that. You'd just have to do more annoying exercises to hit the muscle groups in a similar way.

He could also probably buy a bench that has a connection for leg curls and leg extensions. There was an option for my bench that even included a lat pulldown thing. He could get all of that.

That's essentially all I use. I have a treadmill i use when the weather is horrible outside (who likes running outside in a Nor' Easter?) I confess that I do use the bioforce for some exercises from time to time, but most of the time I'm using the cage. I even have the GF using the cage more than the bioforce now.

There's nothing wrong with using a machine like that. It's like a cable station. I use cables. I find them useful in my workout.

have you used that machine before? not even cables, it's like a bow-resistance crap type thing. the only good things i can see on it are the leg extensions and the pullup bar

I'm w/ jaxxed, for bodybuilding purposes you NEED a large selection of exercises which you can only find at an actual gym

I could never lift like that.
Most adjustable benches come with leg extension/curl attachments, they're pretty junky but suffice for me so far. Except when you get too heavy and you start tipping forward unless you weight down the bench. I really do wish I could leg press though, especially with my lower back problems.

I also use my leg attachment to do seated calf raises (srs).

You gotta flip it up and get a chair with the right height underneath.
