Deciding between 2 pieces of headgear
Hey all,
In between two pieces of headgear:

Pros
-Covered top to protect against blows from above (i'm a short guy so i'm assuming a lot of punches might come from the top when i'm rushing in)
-Quality brand-name (Twins from Thailand)
-Open face for better visibility
-Cheap option, $50 on amazon, and i have a few amazon dollars to burn ($100), w00t
Cons
-Have read recently that Twins headgear tends to be on the clunky helmet feeling side, which could get tiring
-Open face with no cheek protectors might come back to haunt me in form of injuries with a good shot
and option #2
Top Ten Headgear

Pros
-Lightweight (or so it's said) material doesn't soak up sweat
-Bayflex material works good (if not better than traditional headgear) to absorb and dissipate impact (again, anecdotal information)
-Cheek protectors
Cons
-Double the price around $110 (and no amazon availability to use my amazon dollars )
-Uncomfortable for some
if anyone owns either piece of equipment, i would greatly appreciate any input

As far as I'm concerned, the Top Ten headgear is the best headgear ever made. It costs a lot but you should never need to replace it.

the gym has loaner ones that i could use from time to time, but i prefer to have my own gear if i'm ever sparring outside the gym, plus i have a quirk about using gym/communal equipment that's been ragged on and sweated in for years. aside from being a bit more sanitary, old gear just tends to have a pretty gross sweat smell from years of use that just distracts me lol.
i'd be using this initially for muay thai spars, but eventually grappling as well.
it looks like though i'm leading to the top-ten and will probably just use those spare amazon dollars for other equipment

what's your take between the two? I'll be using it mostly for muay thai sparring, but eventually mma in general sparring.
i really want to know if the twins headgear is as heavy and clunky as i've read online, so your perspective on the pros and cons of each piece of equipment would be greatly appreciated

truth be told i dont like the Twins one at allllllllllllllllll, feels kinda cheap. to light for me.
for the TOP TEN one, as other has said it is very high quality, like its the only head gear you can wear is competition, and Olympic boxing, so that right there should be enough credibility.
here are some more choices:
Greenhill
great quality, its a bitch cleaning it tho, but nothing some febreze cant fix.
another is RIVAL, which i use, ****ing amazing, although the chin strap can be a bitch at time lulz
but if you're going to do mostly muay Thai, you might as well get the twins, but personally i dont like the twins one.
hope this helps.
this is the one i have right now
