saturated fats make difference in fat loss?

hi,
should i be cutting back on saturated fats? i am on a 500-800 cal deficit and eating healthy as can be! however, i read that saturated fats get immediately stored as fat, whereas carbs/proteins/better fats need to get converted and hence raises your matabos?

yup. Saturated fats are really bad for you, not necessary, and should be avoided. Fats in general are not bad, just some kinds of fats are, and saturated is the bad kind. Stay away from it.

avoiding saturated fats is a myth. you should consume about the same amount as the other fats (poly and mono unsat). basically in moderation.

the only fat that is really bad for you is trans fats

thanks all,
how are fats(PB, almonds, milk) used for energy when compared to sugars like apples? so we need fat through diet to lose fat?

Your professor is wrong. The plaque that clogs up the inside of your arteries is about 70% polyunsaturated fats. He may need to update his research.

Saturated fats are good fats. Humans have been eating saturated fats for millenniums without any problems. It was the introduction of refined vegetable oils and refined sugar and wheat that heralded mass heart disease.

Saturated fats keep your immune system healthy, your testosterone levels high and your bones strong. In every study carried out on humans were type of fat eaten was compared with outcome, the group eating the saturated fats were the healthiest and lived the longest. The group eating the polyunsaturated fats had the lowest cholesterol but were much more likely to have a heart attack or die.

Transfats are the evil ones which will clog your arteries and cause heart disease. There is no safe limit for transfats.

Fat of any sort, including saturated fat, will not get stored as fat if there is a calorie deficit. Even without a calorie deficit, if you are on a ketogenic (high fat, low carb) diet, fat won't be stored as fat.
