How soon to start a cut before a show...

Hey all... I am looking to do my first show in Sept of this year... I was wondering how long you should start your cut prior to a show? Currently, I am at 195 and 10.7% body fat... I would like to bulk to about 210 at the same percentage body fat and then cut to my 5% or so... Given that, how soon should I cut before my competition? Thanks for the help guys!

Standard cutting time is 16 weeks. Sometimes, it takes me up to 20 weeks but that is when I bulk up too much.

It depends on your metabolism, the type of diet and how fast you drop weight. I know people who cut from anything between 8 and 22 weeks.

Good lord 20 weeks. It depends on how fat you are. 12-14 weeks is the standard I thought.

Not necessarily. I know some people just prefer long, slow cutting with a less dramatic caloric deficit.

I am doing a 19-22 week cut by the time I am done. I got a little to fat in the offseason

Gonna try to stay around 10-12% next year so I can only diet for 12-14 weeks

Unless you have more stuff running through you than a science experiment, there is NO WAY youre gonna lean bulk and add 15 lbs and then have time to cut before september. Unless youre on gear to hold muscle, a slow cut is the way to go. I have been bulking for 8 months and I would consider myself lucky to have added 5-7 lbs of LBM. I start my cut June 7th for an October 17th show. 20 weeks. I am currently around 14% or so:

There is a show in Wichita at the end of September I am thinking about doing. I am deployed right now but I have a good amount of size. Thought about cutting down for 12 weeks and seeing how I looked a few days before the show then entering. Or entering and possibly withdrawing if I wasn't at a good level.

Thinking about trying a low carb approach, I don't know. I also run PH's and **** and it's a natural show so I don't really know how that would work out... Hoping on doing a 1-T Tren cycle here soon.

I think you may need to stay within the NPC then. I think WNBF and OCB don't even allow stuff like Gaspari's Novedex XT.

Hmm...would it be safe to say that whatever bf% you are that equals 1 week of cutting? So if you were 10-12%, you'd need at least 10-12 weeks? That seems about right (to me at least) from what I've seen, read, and experienced.
