Bananas bad to eat after a workout?

I heard they are not right to eat after a workout because they have sugar in them and your insulin levels are spiked at that time. Is this right?

Man, OP even managed to get the bro-science wrong!

First off, for most of us there is no need to spike insulin. if you wanted to spike it, sugar is a great way to do it.

That being said, if you wanna eat a banana, post w/o is just a fine time to do it!

As long as you get into carbs and protein, you will be fine. I just do not reccomend taking in any fats after a workout. Some guys taking slow digesting carsb and some (like me) take in fast-digesting. I use 60gm WAXIMAIZE and 20 gm whey protein right after a workout and then 1 cup of oats and 20 gm whey 20 min later then 2 cups brown rice and 4 oz. chicken 1.5 hours later. This seems to work great for me. good luck

You want that actually, after a heavy workout, your glycogen store are depleted and muscle needs quick supply of refills from carbs.

Banana, berries, dextrose, milk, and oats are best recommended for pwo shake.

    or

You could go home for Meal, anabolic window is larger then 30 minutes btw.

2007 date and your unaware about banana are good for pwo? (you fooling me? )

1 1/2 scoop whey with 8oz. water and a banana is my post workout shake.

from my research you need protein and some carbs right after a workout, at least its been working for me. I am also cutting while bulking I was even using milk as well.

1-2 hours I eat 2 tablespoons natural pb, 1 greek yogurt, and 1/4 cup oats.

than I start back on my every 3 hour I eat something.

No, a banana is good to eat after a workout because your body will be
depleted of it's simple carbs and sugar is the main source of those (a banana has about 19 grams of sugar) and so its a great thing to have after a workout, just make sure that you have protein with it too.
i mix my whey protein with milk because not only does it taste a lot better than when mixed with water but it adds some sugar too which is good making my shake have around 31 grams of protein, 1 gram of fat, and like 12 grams of sugar.

You will definitely need more than just one banana. Fructose is taken first by the liver and won't leave nothing for your hungry muscles. Either you go the spike way (gatorade, dex+malto) or the slow release (oats, brown rice) PLUS fruits if you want PLUS proteins.
One rep back, two reps forward.

Trying hard to be strong and smart.

Banana's are ideal after workout. And no they don't cause insulin spike's at all. White sugar does that, sugar from fruit does not.

It's only 10% sucrose. I think you are harboring some misinformation.

Haha, I don't know. Some people here are dying for an excuse to work fast food into their macros.
Got frustrated trying to figure out what "eating clean" even means, so I just had a burrito. IIFYM Crew is persuasive

Id keep postworkout shakes as just that...shakes. Protein and carbs should be in liquid form only so they go straight into your system. If you wanna add a banana aswell then do it.
