Whey Protein Bloody Mess
Ok - Anybody out there ever heard of getting blood in their stool while taking whey protein? I've upped my workout and need to up my protein intake so my son had some whey protein left in the house that he purchased through GNC, I had never been a fan of this Co. but I tried the power and it seemed that I tolerated it well, I had problem previously, years ago with bad, bad nasty inhuman foul gas from whey and could only use Met Rx. I took what my son had left, about 4 scoops, seemed to be ok and purchased more. I did another days worth and had a bad belly ache, no gas or diarrhea or anything just bloated pain in the stomach. Then in the morning I found blood in my stool, eeeeuuuuu. I stopped the protein and got better in a couple of days. So after a week I thought I'd try it again and see for sure if it was the protein and took one dose, sure enough blood again. Anybody got any thoughts on this? Any suggestions for a better protein?

What color is the blood??
Bright red?
Maroon?
Black?
That in itself will tell alot and makes a diagnosis easier. Any previous medical history? Taking any medications?
There are many different reasons you could be passing blood.
Best advice, go see your primary Dr.

The stool is almost black but the water has bright red streaks flowing around it. I'm doing a simple test e cycle w/ hGH, but have been on that a couple a weeks no problem, I've also been taking 600 mg naproxen, but not lately. Haven't touched any nsaid since this started. I really think it's the protein.

well the obvious choice is to go to the doctor if your ****ting blood...
My guess would be that because large amounts of protein make a person crap more/denser crap, probably aggravates them/ruptures them...but were not doctors here

Dark stool indicates upper GI bleed, where as red/ bright red is indicative of lower GI (rectum, etc)
Protein directly shouldnt cause a bloody stool, unless you have some underlying condition (possibly colitis or diverticulitus) that is simply agrivated by the stomach discomfort that you expirence while taking protein. It could even be as simple as hemorrhoids, which also can be explained by the upset stomach causing them to rupture, therefore they bleed.
But dont write it off as something simple and delay getting checked out. It could be a more serious liver condition, especially because youre on test.

Bro. Black stool usually means you are bleeding higher up on your GI. Internal bleeding is not good. I would seriously get the checked out by a gastro. At least go to your primary doctor. Don't let some knucklehead on a supplement forum diagnose a potentially life threatening disorder. Good luck.

Yea your 100% right, I'm not looking for diagnosis just lookin to see if anybody else has heard of this. I'm reluctant to go to the doc while on a cycle and if I don't take the protein I'm ok soooo - - -
I did some research and some people can have a allergic reaction to high dose protein and the symptoms look like colitis or diverticulitis. Because of my first reaction to whey I'm gonna stand on that for the time being.
Melena ???

Melena means bloody stool. Which just so happens to be black on color. This usually indicates upper gi bleeding.

You're really rolling the dice by not getting this checked out. Bloody stool worse case could be colon cancer. Running GH while having cancer can quite possibly make the cancer grow at a greater rate. I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer but this is a serious situation imo. Good luck.

You've got a point there Southern, the doc's been wanting to scope me for a while (I’m over 55) and have been procrastinating, really not looking forward to having that thing go up the wrong way. It's also a money issue, before this I just couldn't see shelling out $2500 for a test that had no indications, but now I've got some indications. I’m not one to run to the doc with every little thing, I know this isn’t little, but I’ve found that most of the time I tell the doc what I’ve got and he just writes the scrip. Oh did I mention that it’s a money issue?

So you jumped into test e/ hGH without using whey protein?
I mean if you get adequate protein from real food that's great, but it's just kind of odd to see someone on test e/hgh that isn't using whey.
Are you lactose intolerant?

I've had some gi issues and they scoped me. It was really no big deal other than the assistant was a super hottie and I had to lay there while she spread my cheeks lol.

Usually when you get scoped they put you in a "twlight sleep". You arent knocked out completely but you feel no pain and it relaxes you. At your age i would strongly advise getting checked out. At least go to your primary Dr and he will most likely refer you to a Gastroenterologist.

I know that it seems strange that I hadn't started the protein earlier but I started the test as HRT then decided to run a cycle because I couldn't see sticking myself everyday for the rest of my life. I also was trying to loose some belly fat that I've accumulated over the last few years.
