    Groin pain when squatting

    I was doing squats today and I've been noticing lately that during the concentric phase of the squat I get pretty sharp groin pain. In my final set I was going for 225 for 6 reps. On the 3rd rep the pain hit me hard and I got pissed off and stopped the set. This is really making me mad because I know I can go heavier/more reps but my groin is holding me back.

    It seems like the wider stance I take the more it hurts.

    I have 0 groin pain on leg press.

    Do I just give up squats? Idk what to do.

    if it hurts more on wider stances you might want to work on groin flexibility. use a narrow stance or shoulder width stance until your flex improves

    i'll try using the abductor machine to warm up with next time/strengthen my groin.

    I get groin pain too and the its because my back is tight. Doing squats puts alot of strain on your lower back. If your tight in your lower back this can strain the groin. I wasn't able to bike ride sometimes b/c of the pain. I started stretching 3x a week and it went away.

    Just stretch it and make sure it's warmed up. I recently pulled my groin doing my first working set. This was the first time in my life this had happened and it too me about 6 days to recover. I think it has to do with having tight muscles in the legs. For me, it was from running and not warming up enough prior to squatting.

    pre-fatiguing the muscle before you need it???the ADDuctor magnus either lacks flexibility or strength...The cure... lower the weight then start slowly increasing it again.

    that's right

    the hamstring portion of the adductor magnus (and the hammies themselves) some times over take the role of the glutes.

    so again, how is your glute activation?

    can tight glutes cause this problem? im start to have pain in the groin area too now when squatting and despite stretching alot after all my workouts my glutes seem to be getting tighter, i do figure 4's to stretch em and its getting harder and harder to do em
