Agree with both responses. The only way you'll get a good deal is to buy them used. Craigslist is probably your best bet or Ebay.

I remember I went into playitagainsports and there DB's were like 20cents a pound when they were on sale.

^^^ I haven't seen weight plates for $.20 a pound in a decade at Play it again or anywhere else. This is very unrealistic. Even on CL I would expect to pay more than twice that for DB's.

If you're set on buying new, there are always printable coupons for Dicks & Sports Authority you can firnd online, and if you break up your order and do the math they'll equal about 20% off -- so they'll cost about $0.71/lb. Adding sales tax will increase that a few more cents.

I've recently bought some off Craigs list and the prices varied from $0.35 - $0.50.
