Dips, Flat Bench, and droopie man boobs

Okay who here has read or heard about the man droopie boob caused by lots of flat benching? If you have, you've probably been told that you should do incline more.

Aside from all this, don't we all know and love dips? Fabulous chest exercise. There's one thing though, doesn't this exercise work the same as the flat bench and thus put more stress on the minor pec rather than upper just like the flat bench.

If this is true, then how can we praise the dips yet frown at the flat bench for it's man droopie boobie effects?

if you have a problem with man boobs it's either gyno or fat and switching movements will do nothing for or against it.

then no need to worry about it unless your using anabolics and get gyno otherwise movements wont cause this at all.

dips will work the lower portion of your chest because it mimics the decline bench movement. flat bench will work your upper and lower chest equally. and for upper chest development id recommend doing military press rather then adding in another bench exercise. military press, flat bench press and dips will give you a full chest exercise as well as triceps and shoulders

if you don't do any incline chest movements and your development is limited to your mid and lower pecs then you may look like you got a set of slinky B-cups

seems some people say they exists and some don't. I'm afraid they may which is why I don't do long reps on flat bench but rather short reps less than 5 for strength. I do incline for reps.

To Lilhoose: Why do you recommend military press only for upper chest? What about inclines?

OP....Who the hell is saying flat bench gives men "droopie boobie effects"?

If anything it will build muscle across the entire chest domain. Incline and Dips simply emphasize the upper and lower portion for better overall symmetrical development.

I'm with Al...You are confusing fat/gyno problems with muscle building exercises.

"Man Boobs" have nothing to do with performing bench presses. They're an issue of either excess bodyfat, or a hormonal imbalance.
    No brain, no gain.

i think i know where the OP is coming from, like low pecs where they are flat on the upper portion and kind of tear drop down from a side perspective. dont do really heavy weight on decline bench focus on flat and upper bench and higher reps for decline so it doesnt droop/bulge on at the bottom

i think thats what your on about~?!?!
    no pain no gain

Yeah that's it. It's the tear drop shape viewed from the side, upper being flat, lower being boolike.

    Second, what's gyno?

Ok I just to have to comment here cause this at least happened to me, so it def is possible!!

Back when I started, for the first year or so, if not more, I only did flat press and no incline (and dips as well). And I did get that horrible saggy look to my pecs... I mean I really didn't like the look of me without a T-shirt!! Now I think calling them man boobs would definitely be going a little overboard. They weren't droopy or anything.

I don't like the word droopy cause that implies that they are actually hanging etc. It wasn't fat, I mean the lower section of my pecs were built out with a bit of muscle and weren't hanging or anything. It was just that since the upper part wasn't built out nearly as much it created the illusion of them being saggy.. That tear drop comparison from the side is good.

The upper area of my chest still needs a lot of development but I think I'm finally over the horrible "saggy look" now at least

But as a result I strictly avoid flat presses. I like doing dips, so I think the dips combined with other incline movements is good enough for an overall chest workout (especially while I'm now still trying to pump out my upper chest to catch up with the lower area)

You can have even muscular developement up and down and still look like there's more at the bottom simply from the curvature of the sternum.
