Wow, that's terrible. I think I'd go a bit nuts if I got through mixing the plaster and gathering the materials 2x and had it fail. My hat's off to you for still trying. I'll poke around up here and see if I can find any molds. I just checked out Slater's website and they could run into a bit of money (start at $50 for a little stone).
I seem to remember someone on here that used large river stones. Just drove to the local stream/river and walked around for a bit looking for stones. They wern't completely round but they were pretty darn close, and they were free.

What you need is rags, clothes, or bandages.
Plaster of paris by it self is the worst idea. You need to bond it together.
Dip the bandage/shirts/rags in the plaster, wrap around the ball, keep on building up whilst wet.
Every layer smear on some wet plaster, then continue to wrap.
Last atlas stone I made, I got old crappy clothes (mainly t-shirts) and dipped them in the plaster and it was the strongest thing ever

don't forget lots of duct tape!
Seriously though...Slater's stone molds are a great idea. Myself and a few other went in on two molds, and will be selling some to other training groups when we get time in order to make back our initial investment.

I can help you out. I'm located just outside of Little Rock. I have the 330 lb and the 240 lb slater stone molds. If you want I can make you a couple for a small fee. Just email me at schninn@yahoo.com

sorry...just saw this now.
All the stone molds are currently being used to make stones for a competition. Have you tried asking on the marunde-muscle forums yet? Someone will more than likely be able to direct you to someone near you who would either let you borrow the molds or make some for you.

Are you sure you used "Plaster of Paris" and not sheetrock plaster?
