hey, i have never used any test. increasing supplements before, considering trying over the counter stuff.....t-bomb, testro grow, halodrol, etc. most threads always have younger guys talking about them, i would like to hear results from the over 35 crowd. what worked, what didn't, side effects, etc. i have always just used protien shakes and lately creatine and no boosters. wanting size but it isn't coming like it used to. i should probalby go get a test. test(no pun intended) first, but just wanted some feed back before i get to serious about it.

Am I missing something? Looks like he's asking about test boosters? What's wrong with that?
I've been using t-bol since January, I think it's helped a bit but I'm not giving it rave reviews.
When I'm done, I'll take a break and maybe try Novadex XT.
I probably should have tried the Novadex first but I'm stupid like that. Was friends with Methuselah

Go see your doctor and get your hormone levels checked and follow his advice.
Test booster make no significant difference. They will empty your checking account with very little effect on a man. PLEASE PEEPS.... TRUST ME ON THIS.
There has been so many threads on this over the years and these "Test booster" things all came out or changed ingredients when the Prohormones and poppers were taken from the retail shelves by the politicians.
Test booster are a marketing ploy to make tons of money. No amount of Yohimbe, vitamins, etc will "SIGNIFICANTLY" do a thing.
Yet, there will be many to contest my statements and continue to buy them and take them. Sooo. Good luck with them.CHECK OUT MY INTERVIEW WITH "SIMPLYSHREDDED"

thanks for the replies......sounds like the majority say the test boosters are junk....thats what i wanted to know. on the suplement boards, all the younger meat heads rave about some of the products, but i think when your in your late teens and early 20s the test level is already sky high, so i think alot of those kids are getting the placebo effect. i realize nothing beats hard work, good rest, and a good nutrition plan. looks like i'll stay the course.

Uh, my total T went from about 330 to 926 after taking Novedex XT. I wouldn't call that a "marketing ploy"...
I stopped taking DHEA in between blood test, is all I remember now...
But, I do realize that increasing T after having high E2 for years will not produce much in the way of phsyical gains for a long time. The body has to adjust to the change and that takes time. My E2 went way down, to normal, after a few weeks on Novedex XT as well.
This product does not wprk for everyone however.Last edited by dirkwright; 03-26-2009 at 12:03 PM.

I would say it will work for no one in what happened to you on this product. "IF" this product had anything to do with the raise of your t levels by that much, something else was in play, or you are the only one. It makes no sense.
IMO, THERE IS NOTHING LEAGAL OVER THE COUNTER THAT WILL RAISE T LEVELS EVEN CLOSE TO WHAT YOURS WERE RAISED. IF SO, IT WOULD BE HEADLINES IN EVERY MEDIA AND MEDICAL BOOKS OUT THERE. IT WOULD BE A SINSATION. THINK ABOUT IT. REASON IT OUT!!!CHECK OUT MY INTERVIEW WITH "SIMPLYSHREDDED"

No, he is actually right about this. Novedex XT DOES raise testosterone. By alot. A study by Baylor University showed that total test was nearly tripled and free test was almost 6 times higher after Novedex XT administration. So, it really does raise testosterone in a really big way.
That said, I tried it awhile back and really didn't notice any differences in strength or body composition. From my reading, one problem is that even though it raises test, the active ingredient (ATD) may compete with test at the AR site. This has been shown to happen in the brain, but, whether it happens in the muscle is another issue .... but it would still explain why, even in the study, huge increases in test had little effect on body composition.

Its posted in the link above.
But again, if ATD competes with test at the AR receptor in muscle tissue, then huge increases in test will not have significant effect on muscle growth.

The quote from Baldie is what I was thinking of when Novadex XT got mentioned earlier in the thread. I had my blood tested a while ago and was on the low side for testosterone. When I tried Novadex XT, I felt better. I'd love to try the stuff under the supervision of a doctor, but when I discussed hormonal issues with my current doc, he just treated me like I was complaining about having two eyes.

When my Doc put me on AndroGel HRT for a girlie level Testosterone of 219....went back 6 weeks later and was WHOOT WHOOT 570, however my Estroidols were 65 and high normal is 45. Not wanting to put me on Arimidex due to clotting issues he told me to research over the counter anti estrogen suppliments. After reading and antedotal imput of others I tried Novedex XT. Six weeks later we did another blood test and VOILA...Estroidols dropped to 45 and Test shot up to a blue jeans ripping, pole vault outta bed in the morning 1050. (Baldie Quote)
He still was on the AndroGel as well. I know this scenario well. If he doesn't chime in here. I will call him and get him to report on it again. I HAVE BEEN WRONG BEFORE, I JUST DON'T SEE THIS AS A STAND ALONE.Last edited by oldsuperman; 03-26-2009 at 09:23 PM.

How about a few of you test-booster supp proponents posting a few before/after pics of some real-world muscle gains? Citing numbers means little; I'd like to see some real proof that any of this stuff works to build real muscle.

No brain, no gain.
"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

"no Increase In Lean Mass"
"NO INCREASE IN LEAN MASS"
OK, so I'm wrong on this. Then answer me this. Why was there "NO INCREASE IN LEAN MASS" in the study if is works so well? . IT'S THEIR RESULTS.
I'm going back to my original thought. Makes no sense. USE REASON. Think about it. It it really is that potent, then why isn't it a media sensation? Because if it truly worked, being it helped to increase lean mass, then why isn't it being touted about in all the media?Last edited by oldsuperman; 03-26-2009 at 09:45 PM.

I understand that Karl, and I'm not trying to be an a$$ about this or a know it all. I'm just concerned about peeps getting their hopes up about something that really isn't going to help them in there quest.
I read the thread you linked and found it interesting and informative. I opened the link to the study and I believe it most likely is accurate, yet non effective in its goal as a bbing sup. They, the sup co. can claim what the will yet the end results were that it did nothing to help a mans muscle development, short term or long term.
Soooo, IMO..... What purpose will it serve, except to empty a mans hard earned money from his wallet.
Again, thanks for the imput. I enjoyed the link.CHECK OUT MY INTERVIEW WITH "SIMPLYSHREDDED"

Old supe, I think you and I agree on this issue, which is why in my first post, I mentioned that I tried Novedex XT (twice actually), and despite the study, I found that it didn't do much for me. Personally, I think I'm done with test boosters. If my test ever drops to an unhealthy level, I'll pursue HRT.

Well, this is 86 days since the first of the year, I'm well over 35, and here's my supplementation:
Muscletech Cryotest
Tribulus terrestrus
Nitrotech protein
Creatine
Hydroxycut Caffiene-free
(and lots of steak and squats!)
You be the judge. Placebo effect? Maybe..... but it works for me! All due respect to Mr. Ol' Supe, he's obviously more qualified to address the subject than I, but I say hey, it's your cash, if you want to try some OTC boosters, by all means give it a shot. If they don't work for you, chalk it up to another lesson learned. If they do work for you, well results are results, placebo or real science. There's no substitute for hard, intense training and proper diet, but if you can find an edge, more power to you!Last edited by IronCharles; 03-27-2009 at 01:50 AM.
