What is the percentage of legal and illegal gun crime?
Like of all gun crimes combined, what percent was with legal guns and what percent with illegal guns? ive always been real curious to know this. I think if u showed the general public the statistics which would show the large majority are done with illegal guns maybe people would wake up and not think every law abiding citizen who owns a gun is evil or some crap.

I have several studies somewhere. I will tell you right now that the percentage of gun-related crimes committed with legally purchased guns is very low. Well into the single digit kind of low.

that ebook is awesome b/c it states facts that have been gathered by OUR federal gov and collegiate studies and surveys.

when i was in my pistol safety course(required by NY), the guy teaching it, who is a legit dude. He was in the army for many many years, law enforcement for like 25 years, etc etc.
Anyways, he was showing a bunch of gun statistics for NYS. one of them stated that of all crimes committed with guns. only 1/4 of 1% of them were with legally registered guns by the legal owner.

I remember reading something that says 9/10 gun crimes that are done down here are with unregistered firearms(you need to register them for legal ownership).

Unfortunately you need to cite unbiased sources.
Here is an unbiased source, roughly 80% with 6% unaccounted for.

However this was in 1997, so we can only assume with an increase in population and the still inadequite enforcement of felony firearms cases, that the percentage has increased.
