White Cops on powertrip...nothing special...happens in America all the damn time. Although Gates should have provided an ID immedietly..still there is more than just a whiff of racism here.

Read the police report. If the police report is true, then the officer didn't do anything wrong. Apparently he also has taught a class on racial profiling for 5 years (the officer that is).

This, although I ****ing lol'd at "are you not providing me with your name and badge number because I'm black." It's because he knew he ****ed up as soon as he saw your ID and didn't particularly want to get in trouble broseph. Strong race card pull on that part. Rest of it was pretty blatant profiling though.

In the police officers defense though, I can understand following him in while he gets his ID. He doesn't know whether or not Gates is a thief attempting to escape or what. The issue should have been resolved as soon as the ID was presented though. I don't quite get what the hell they arrested him for.

Yea yea yea he taught a "class" but for all you know he could have not really cared or was required to by state regulations. I mean I'm not totally ****ting on the cop for getting a little suspicious but there was no reason to make an arrest or put him in handcuffs. Unfortunately some cops just get on a powertrip and are bullies plain and simple..and they know in the court of law that juries can send a black man to jail easier than a white man ca

exactly, it's easy to understand the cop reaction before the arrest, but why he ended up arresting the man even after seeing his ID and all I don't understand

I won't say racism caused it, but I say the cop made a wrong decision.

The problem is your are only hearing one side of the story, and it's most likely the one you want to here. If you would read the news story which quotes several parts of the police report, you would see something like this: "man found inside home, won't give id, won't comply with this request and the other requests the officers made." He was arrested, he wasn't cooperating with officers. Sure there are corrupt cops, but I feel like this isn't one of those cases.
